Our deadline probably coincides with deadlines we were given from other clubs on various targets we have.

I can see a scenario where we have an agreement in place with City for the last day of the window. Allowing us to not lose negotiating leverage with clubs of players we want to bring in whilst still taking advantage of the end of the window desperation (aka Levy time) of selling clubs that means we get the best possible deals.

Kane in the meantime works through standard pre season fitness building but doesn't play.
Yep, i wouldn't be surprised if this transfer is already done but will be delayed until the deadline day. So we can buy players. Like Atalanta during Romero's transfer

Although it’s unlikely, imagine if we sold Kane to City and they end up finishing 4th and we are just 2-4 points behind. Would we have seen it as good business then? No one expected Liverpool to have such a bad season last season but these things can happen. I just can’t get on board with selling our best player to a rival.

Anyone clued up on the Webster ruling and if there is any chance of Kane using that to get out of his contract?

OK, how about this one: what if re-invest and win the league…will it looks good then?

My point being: we can all throw meaningless hypotheticals around to try and prove our own point, but it ultimately comes down to your own personal judgement as to whether we’ll be better off selling for a good fee, or keeping him, against his will and not having the cash to reinvest

Likelihood is that if we sold him, I’m the short term it would hurt us. But we should be thinking long term.

FP has a long term vision - why else would everyone we’re looking at be basically young or with plenty of room to improve and/or resell?

I agree with that approach.

With that in mind, if we can get the right fee and strengthen the squad, do it

We’ve been over it a few times, there’s basically 0 chance, it’s a legal minefield and his agent looks like he struggles with his seat belt. It’s not a goer

I would be more inclined to keep him and wait for a year of non Covid stadium filling and invest that money instead. We have already been told that we are looking to get 4 players in that are nothing to do with Kane’s fee.

We only played them on Sunday. Would have been a bit of a kick in the teeth to see him line up against us had the deal been agreed beforehand.
Not that I’d care that much. I think he would have succumbed to a couple of reducers.

Also, just watching that Sky Sports clip.
Why didn’t Kaveh simply state that we HAVE been in CL finals and challenging for the league title and league cup whilst he’s been here?

I mean what fucking more does he want?

The team made it to the absolute brink of success, and has done on more than one occasion. Yes. It’s fallen short. But I don’t think that’s anything to do with lack of ambition. I don’t even know how Kane can use that as a stick to beat us with.
“Ambition” to him is simply “winning things”. He’s had ample fucking opportunity.

The guy on the left is one of those 'I shout louder, I win the argument' types.

What a load of nonsense. Doesnt understand how things work and has just made himself look like a tit on live tv.

Thought the other guy handle himself quite well.

Spot on, guy on the left did a spectacular job of making himself look a twat.

Correct. Yes Bluemoon keep bringing it up.

It isn't viable within FFP because you end up with a massive compensation bill awarded on the whims of the course, which is therefore wildly unpredictable and required to be paid in one go, suddenly making you FFP in compliant and needing to sell players.

FFP is still in force, the accounting window has just been expanded I believe.

There's more here and some other posters had some good info on it.
