As long as we don't get another Darren Bent

sorry to go slightly off topic, but (Darrent Bent) was iirc on par with our then record signing at 16 mill £.
..and it’s not like it was eons ago either.

what an insane inflated market it has become….

vlahovic quoted at 100 mil

Thats the main reason I think its hard for, not only for spurs, to get deals done these days. Oil billionares has made it batshit crazy.

We'd be cutting our nose off to spite our face. What matters is what is best for spurs and it's irrelevant if that also means that city and Kane get their way. To not do what's best for spurs because we want to stroke our ego by standing firm against a bully is just foolish.

If Kane stays we will have a 3rd season in a row with a dark cloud over the team. Lets move on and make decisions which benefit Tottenham Hotspur.
Maybe, but how hard have we tried to shake off the ‘Spurs are a selling club’ mantle?!

Selling our prize asset to a domestic rival doesn’t do that, in fact it’s everything Daniel Levy has fought to avoid in the most recent high profile sales.

The deadline needs to be this week and we cannot sell unless we have 2 replacements done b4hand, no excuses, no we tried hard, no ifs and buts, just straight done deals and quality at that, no more Jansenns or Viniscus types.
As for Kane, if he goes good riddance, you went about it as badly as you could and will have gone from hero to zero.
If he stays then buckle down and do your job.

If we can't get our replacements, and it seems we can't get a CL level CB to partner Romero, then we shouldn't sell at any price.

It's pointless.

I don't care how many annoying leaks he gives to some sycophantic hack journalist.

The team will go backwards and we need to make a real go at top 4 this year.

I love some of the young signings we're making, but we need to keep him if no Vlahovic / Lautaro level of replacement is obtainable.

I’m more interested in the state of the dressing room than losing Kane.
Hoping (?) that we sell and secretly have agreed a few good men in, along whatever lines make the squad better and happier. That sounds too hopeful though, doesn’t it, on past dealings?

If deals for players aren't already lined up, and this deal is completed next week. I would argue the additional week in the market is worth more to us in terms of acquiring replacements than the £25m difference between the alleged bid and the fee we're holding out for

well my point is that we shouldn’t give a shit about mantles or labels if it means we end up a better team from it. We’re talking about smashing the record deal in this league by over 50%.

We have been given the impression that Paratici has a deadline for his deals, it makes complete sense that if they decided to offer what we had been asking for that we would stone-wall their bids as we would no longer have enough time for the transfer plan if Kane left and instead we are already on the transfer plan where Kane stays.

I can see a scenario where we have an agreement in place with City for the last day of the window. Allowing us to not lose negotiating leverage with clubs of players we want to bring in whilst still taking advantage of the end of the window desperation (aka Levy time) of selling clubs that means we get the best possible deals.

Kane in the meantime works through standard pre season fitness building but doesn't play.

Im genuinely shocked that we set the deadline as one week before the window closes. Surely this should have been set 2 weeks ago so its not left everything to the last minute? Especially when it appears we havent pretty much wrapped up all of our incomings. Seems like such a strange thing to do.
