Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has reportedly informed his friends that he will not sign a new contract with the North London club. The England captain's future has been a major talking point for the past couple of years since he tried and failed to push through an exit in the summer of 2021.

Very sad, but he's been a brilliant servant and is entitled to a move. The outlook on a 12-24 month view isn't great, too much deadwood to shift, and money spent in the summer largely wasted. We really should look at the way Brighton and Brentford are doing things, rather than signing the cast offs from the biggest clubs, we need to find the next Walker, Bale, Eriksen and Modric.

Nothing screams: "Ambition!" like trying to emulate Brighton and Brentford...

Right now it seems the best we can hope for is that he loves the club so much that he won't do a Sol Campbell and completely tarnish that mutual love forever. By that I mean that he is open with the club right now about his intentions, and does not string them along until the last minute.

Then it means we can consider selling this summer, possibly to a PL rival, or we just allow him to run the contract down, but therefore benefitting from his goals next season, then waving goodbye in summer 2024.

He should probably tell the club, too. At least we might be able to get a few quid for him in the summer and plan for life without him.

Actually....

No.

Cannot. Can't. Won't.

That involves actual planning rather than throwing cartons of poo at the wall and seeing what doesn't immediately slide down leaving a brown Zorro mark in it's wake.

Past caring. He isn’t void of responsibility.
Totally agree, there isn’t one player I wouldn’t accept a fee for, if it was market value. Time has come to get rid of anyone who doesn’t want or shouldn’t be here. Top to bottom and back to front. I only want people here who want to be here, sick of reading that managers and players are doing us a favour being here. Time to start with a blank canvas now.

Wouldn't believe a word of 'Sports Mole'. Having said that, I'm past caring what Kane does. If we're in for a major rebuild might as well start with a new CF who can press and run a whole lot better than Kane. Yes, it will be painful, but when was anything not painful being a Spurs supporter.

I’m more worried about what I’m going to have to do with my youngest lads bedroom as it’s like a shrine to Kane as opposed to the thought of him actually going!

Must be tough trying to explain that. Still, as long as Harry picks up a pot or 2 I doubt it will play on his mind too much.

Sports Mole sounds like a skin condition and reads like it was written by a cheap AI.

Not doubting the quality of their information or their source, other than this would be a hot story on any major news outlet, yet here we are... Sports Mole.

I can't help think that had the club appointed Ten Hag in 2021 things would have improved so much so that Harry would have been happy to stay.

He may have still had the same stance he had in that window but I think it'd have gotten much better and the club would be looking forward.

Same may be true when we sacked Poch and appointed Jose.

By trying to appease Kane with a name to bring success and keep him onboard we've actually made the situation worse and his contract has run down.

We've made zero progress to convince him and we've actually put the club in a worse situation.

I don't think he'd leave if he we had a slightly below 50% chance of success. That is probably less than 10% now and he knows it.

If true, really cant blame him.

Deserves to win a few trophies and at this point it doesnt look likely here.

Levy has done great with the stadium, but he has overseen a disaster on the football side since sacking Poch.

Think the club has known for ages. They obvs don’t want bad news to scare off season ticket and poor quality merchandise sales.
