Half rant/Half serious : winter kit wimps

Should the players be allowed to wear winter extras?

  • Of course! The tender, precious little things should be allowed to snuggle up against the cold.

  • No. If they aren't sweating buckets through commitment then why the hell not?

You're from Yorkshire, that explains a lot ;). I was born and bred in Morecambe myself.
Explains more you big shrimper.

I was actually up near Ulverstone last weekend on a family do. All weirdos round there mate!

Yep, lot's of weirdo's. Morecambe also has it's fair share of smack heads and chav's too, but there seemed to be a lot less when I went back for a visit last year. NZ has a reputation of having friendly people but I find Morecambe a friendlier place. I absolutely love the place.

dont see the obsession with players wearing items to protect against the cold.

I play football, i wear gloves, long sleeves etc when its a bit nippy out. Why be a fucking hero about it, if its cold, wrap up. Going winter commando impresses no one surely?

I'd rather 11 players warm and performing than 11 barely dressed looking like real men whilst shaking like shitting dogs.

Some people suffer badly with their hands if the get cold and extremities often do, feet have socks and boots to protect them, we'll never know who has a willy warmer tucked down their shorts but if some players suffer from the skin drying and splitting on their hands then not wearing gloves would be pretty dumb

I used to insist upon going in goal during the Winter, got to wear lovely warm gloves and no-one called me a pussy either, win-win.

As it is the cold doesn't really bother me, except in my bloody extremities, my feet get cold if it goes below 10 degrees, no idea why but they do and my hands are no better. It was torture when I played Rugby in the Winter, hands frozen solid, feet frozen solid and the douchebag other team would also kick the to me from the off, so naturally I was public enemy #1 in the changing room afterwards.

So if i had a choice between a bunch of neanderthals calling me a pussy or lovely and warm extremities, I'm taking the gloves option, every single time.
