Exclusive | Habib Diallo remains an option for Tottenham, but “last resort”

25-year-old Senegalese and Metz striker Habib Diallo is still on Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, but has been described by sources contacted by Get French Football News as a “last resort” option in terms of where he figures on Spurs’ shortlist as they seek to add cover for Harry Kane before the window shuts.

It is understood that Diallo would be available for €15m – he scored 12 goals in 26 matches in Ligue 1 last season.

Bet that’s a nice confidence booster for the lad ?

Bet he’s delighted to hear that!

As a "last resort" option I much prefer Diallo to the likes of Deeney.

Let's be clear: Diallo is definitely not as exciting as Edouard, Wood, Vinicius, Milik, or Weghorst. I think he might have a similar talent level, but he's unproven in the PL and isn't as physically or technically dominant as any of those players. the pricetag reflects that as well.

That said, he does seem to have all the attributes to spell Kane and is a really hard worker and aerial presence. If it really came down to getting Skriniar hinging on buying Diallo for cheap, vs. paying a bit more for one of the above strikers and missing out on Skriniar, I know which one I would choose ten times out of ten.

Granted, he does have an ‘a’. But I think you’ll find that he’s a ‘K’, an ‘n’ and an ‘e’ short.

I'm perfectly content with a budget-rate backup striker if it frees up funds for the other areas we're targeting. I think we're stronger overall if we can get someone like Skriniar to slot into the first XI with Diallo (or similar) as the striker signing than we would be with a big-money striker who will likely be on the bench in our most important matches anyway and someone like Kim Min Jae coming in at CB.

Diallo, Vinicius, Edouard, Wood, Milik, and Weghorst. 6 strikers with been regularly linked with, which one will we sign this window? Seems like Milik is closest?

Fuck me, id be half tempted to take that deal ourselves and plow money into a defender.

If we let this deal slip then it will make me really confident on signing a striker as it almost seems too good to ignore.
