Yep, it all sounds more than plausible. If we manage to sell a couple of fringe players who is to say we wouldn’t go for both towards the end of the window if those are the prices. King gives cover up front and out wide and diallo up front. That would give us a lot of good options with the amount of games we have coming up.
Diallo is just the most clearly plan B of plan B options for us (not saying he is literally plan B but whatever he is in the pecking order he's not first choice) since that deal has been there to be done and an easy one to do for weeks now.

Isn't he playing for a much poorer team relatively speaking?
Fair point, though statistically CV apparently far exceeded his XG regardless.

I’d personally be happy with either. Vinícius excites me more bit Diallo seems to have the right tools too. The only striker we’ve had linked that I just don’t want is Deeney.

Did you know that his name translates to “Phone a friend”. ?

More to this than meets the eye.

This one for me.

All the others seem problematic and they are all risky, this guy is still relatively young, bags of talent and cheap.

I just don't want to leave us desperate on the final day with us going against other teams for king (my prediction based off other transfer Windows)

As I've said before, it's all about the financials for me. Vinicius is allegedly 3x the price with Mendes getting a chunk on top. Maybe there's a loan deal or something for now but he'd still be way more expensive and would be primarily a back up player. We might, for instance, get Diallo and Reguillon for the price of CV, or cover Bale's wages for 18 months with the spare money. Just have to wait and see where it goes I guess.

What about the fact that his strike rate in a similar strength league is considerable worse?

How many would Kane score for Fulham? It's not really an apples to apples comparison

I like the look of this boy, plus he's the captain of his team. I wouldn't be against vinicius but from a financial perspective this seems a far better deal

Yeah same. Maybe I'm being impatient but I'm just really keen to bring someone in quickly so they can help us get through the insane fixture pile up and settle into the team.

Vinicius looks like he has all the tools but is he really worth double the price of Diallo? Or potentially even more? Then you add in the Mendes factor, work permit, etc. It just seems excessively complicated and expensive. However, something tells me he's the one Jose wants hence we're pushing hard for him.

I think we need to set a date, e.g. the end of next week, to tie up Vinicius. If we can't do it by then we just move on and tie up Diallo ASAP. I think if we wait until deadline day, going that extra 2 week period without a striker could have a really negative knock on effect on our season and lead to us getting knocked out of Europa or Kane getting injured.

Hart - sensible signing
Doherty - sensible signing
Hojbjerg - sensible signing
Diallo - sensible signing

Diallo looks a very competent and useful player. He’s got a bit of pace, strength and decent with both his head and feet. For £13m? we should be snapping their hand off.

It’s not as if he’s 32+, riddled with injuries and runs in treacle. In which case I would want us to steer clear.

The alternatives barring Edouard are all high risk and/or short term options.

Jimenez - expensive and short term
Milik - expensive, poor injury history and runs in treacle
Vinícius - expensive, one good season = need to be cautious
Edouard - expensive but young, lots of potential, strong, decent pace

I turned it on at the start of the 2nd half expecting to see Habib but it’s Interesting that Diallo came off the bench. The guy who started was a unit though, seriously impressive physically and ran a lot.

Diallo looks a little less physically imposing in comparison which is concerning: then again, he’s barely played.

Agree with all of that. Would not mind King either, if available at a similar price to Diallo. PL experience certainly is valuable.

Playing vs PSG now

Not the greatest game to judge him on because he’s had no ball at all. He must of touched it twice max in the 20 minutes I’ve watched. Metz did have one break where he squared the ball nicely to the other striker but his shot was saved.

Yeah tough game to judge.

Felt he could have rolled that pass better, needed a bit more power but the right intention was there.

He's been involved in a few defensive clearances yet one of them he ended up heading back into the penalty area.

And had one driving run on the transition to which showed some promise and he's playing on the left of two up top but seems to be the furthest forward.

PSG running the show, the huge majority of the possession, although not the greatest to judge him , in a way it might still be a good way to judge him, because if he came to us, games will be much like this where we dont have much possession at all, especially against the top 6 teams. So how well he does do with minimal touches and play could be useful to see. So far he has has had one look in in terms of playing in a pass to his strike partner, decent touch and pass, apart from that not much. Probably could work harder off the ball maybe, maybe a bit harsh as still first couple of matches in the season and playing psg in his position can be tiresome, hopefully i will catch the 2nd half as well , to see if things change

He finally got some action, did well, recieving and moving forwards with the ball, made some space picked and played the best pass available right into the box but his colleague fudged it up right royally, else would have been a good assist

Exclusive | Habib Diallo remains an option for Tottenham, but “last resort”

25-year-old Senegalese and Metz striker Habib Diallo is still on Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, but has been described by sources contacted by Get French Football News as a “last resort” option in terms of where he figures on Spurs’ shortlist as they seek to add cover for Harry Kane before the window shuts.

It is understood that Diallo would be available for €15m – he scored 12 goals in 26 matches in Ligue 1 last season.
