Spurs 'n Blues battle for Pan

TOTTENHAM and Chelsea could be set to swoop for striker Goran Pandev in January.

The Macedonia striker, 26, has forced Italian side Lazio to release him from his contract after being frozen out this season.

Pandev has not played at all this campaign after he was branded a "rebel" by club president Claudio Lotito.

He is now available on a free transfer after begging football chiefs in Italy to alllow him to move.

Pandev's lawyer Mattia Grassani said: "Goran's contract has been resolved and the club have been ordered to pay £143,500 in punitive damages as well as the legal costs."

Serie A champions Inter Milan and rivals Juventus are also said to interested in Pandev.

The hitman was rated at over £10million during the summer transfer window.

Argentine midfielder Cristian Ledesma has also not played for Lazio this season for the same reason.

The ruling could open the door for him to leave the club too.

We would have a better shot at him if he had still been contracted to Lazio. Now that they don't have a say, he's far more likely to stay in Italy. Would love it to happen but very much doubt it.

Awesome player. Like Berbatov but with more power. Would be an amazing signing but I suspect he is out of our league.

There was a rumour that Harry went to have a look at him in the summer but didn't think he was right for us.

I love this player but I can see him going to Juve who are in serious need of non-geriatric firepower. Poweful, creative, skillful, this guy is quality.

Goran Pandev tells Tottenham and Arsenal he has no intention of leaving Italy

Goran Pandev has told his Premier League suitors he is keen to stay in Italy after winning the right to leave Lazio on a free transfer.
The Macedonia striker is delighted that an Italian League tribunal backed his fight to have his contract with Lazio torn up, but he has no intention of leaving Serie A.
Pandev has been tracked by at least five Barclays Premier League teams, with Arsenal and Tottenham particularly keen to take him January.

Free agent: Goran Pandev is in demand after having his Lazio contract torn up
But the 26-year-old said: 'My future? I'd like to stay here in Italy.'
Regarding the tribunal decision after a long-running dispute with the Rome club, he said: 'I'm happy. For me it's the end of a nightmare. I hope a similar thing will never happen.
'I remain a Lazio supporter and I'm sorry for their supporters, even if I'm happy to leave.
'I've been disappointed by my team-mates and also coach Davide Ballardini has been incorrect with me.'
Inter Milan are thought to be the favourites to sign him, though Juventus and Roma have also been linked.
Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham United have also shown an interest at various times over the last six months.

wrong Milan

Sky Sports Italia claims Macedonian international Goran Pandev has put pen-to-paper on a deal with reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan having won the right to terminate his contract with Lazio and become a free agent. The striker, previously linked in with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, made clear last week that his intention was always to stay in Italy despite his traumatic spell at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 26-year-old spent five years with Lazio but found himself frozen out of first team affairs at the start of the season after contract negotiations with club president Claudio Lotito broke down.
Having trained on his own for several months and seen a transfer to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg rejected, Pandev finally filed for a termination of his contract stressing his owners had failed to uphold their side of his contract.
“My future? I'd like to stay here in Italy,” Pandev told press last week, thus scuppering any hopes held by the Gunners, Spurs and Manchester City.
“I'm happy. For me it's the end of a nightmare. I hope a similar thing will never happen.
“I remain a Lazio supporter and I'm sorry for their supporters, even if I'm happy to leave.
“I've been disappointed by my team-mates and also coach Davide Ballardini has been incorrect with me.”
While the likes of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and Tottenham Hotspur’s notorious transfer wheeler-dealer Harry Redknapp had all been monitoring the attacker’s contract situation in hope of sealing a bargain, it is the player’s desire to remain in Italy which has helped Jose Mourinho seal the player for Inter.
Inter have yet to publically confirm the deal although rumours hint that Pandev could be unveiled this afternoon at the San Siro.
