Cudicini scares the cr*p out of me

I've looked on Physioroom.com and it says Gomes isn't back till the 25th!!

Anyone know if this is right? We could really do with him tomorrow

Cudicini scares me as well. Credit to him for some good saves at the weekend, but he still scares me.

There's been next to nothing about Gomes' injury in the media strangely.

I also think he puts the willies up the defence in front of him (Carlo i'm talking about) purely because i think he stays when IMO Gomes will 9/10 times will come out.

bit worried how good Pletikosa is if he can't get a game ahead of nervous carlo.
maybe its a fitness or injury thing,

carlo was a top keeper in his day,and wasn't bad at WBA...but it doesn't fill me with confidence when he is playing.

So this will be the same Gomes injury that Harry didn't believe was real and left him on for 20 minutes half crippled . Couple of close calls ensued

One decision Harry got spectacularly wrong .

In the aftermatch interview he rolled his eyes in derision when asked about the injury too.

Barring Given/Hart, Cudicini is easily the best back up keeper in the PL. He had a couple of moments in a couple of games but Jesus Christ Gomes doesn't? Get behind your man, get behind your team, come on chaps!

Cudicini used to be good- when he was Chelsea first choice, he was probably one of the top five goal keepers in the PL but ever since he has been a back up, at Chelsea and Spurs, he hasn't looked the same player.
But we have no choice but to hope for the best and hope that those two excellent saves at the end of the West Brom game have given him confidence.

At least it isn't Alnwick

Cudicini is a good shot stopper. It's the crosses into the box that he is weakest with. He isn't very big for a keeper so the centre backs need to command the box for crosses.

It's all about defending as a unit and 1 or 2 of our defenders have been equally as bad if not worse than Cudicini. I'm confident with King at the back because everyone just seems to play a lot calmer with him around.

I wouldn't even say he's a good shot stopper. He made a dog's dinner of his attempt to save Rodallega's effort. And I must say that it still annoys me that he was fast asleep when Carlton Cole rattled one in against us a year ago.

Repped.

Carlo kept us in it at the weekend. Without a couple of outstanding saves from him, we would have come away with nothing.

I think those type of goals conceded are a result of playing few games in a season. Not so much his inability to save them. Obviously he doesn't make mistakes like those usually, but those are the type of mistakes backup keepers make unfortunately. They just don't get a good run of games in the first team, while behind closed doors games are far from the real thing.

Remember too, that Carlo has an unfamiliar pairing in front of him. It's easy knowing what your defence is going to do in front of you, when you play together week in, week out, but Gallas and Kaboul is a pairing Carlo has to get used to, and tonight, it's likely to be Gallas and King. Gomes too, will have to adapt when he's back.

You're probably right, but I hope not. Kaboul was way better than Gallas at the weekend and was great against Stoke too. I'm hoping for Ledley & Younes.
