I will be upset if Gio isn't given some pith time. From what I have seen he does offer something to the first team mostly as an impact sub. He has pace and isnt afraid to run at the opposition. In his brief appearances we have had someone who is positive in his play, recently our players have looked a little hessitant to run at people with the exception of bale and JJ (when he has been on). Obviously this is not such an issue when Lennon is fit.

Taking players on as JJ does, will not always have results (and often dont) but to not have that option in the team seems foolish. Especially for a team who has struggled to score against the anti-football teams. I am certainly not advocating a starting spot for GDS and injuries seem to have hampered him but I feel he has not been given the opportunity that someone of his promise deserves.

100% spot on

By the way didnt have time to post yesterday but for all those that are interested I read Gio's interview on a Turkish website and he mentioned that his favoured position is right wing though happy to play on the left or through the middle. He also mentioned that he wanted to leave in this window as he wasnt playing, Redknapp didnt want him to go and promised him games but had done so also in the past so he went to Levy and it was agreed he could go. Gala do have option to buy in the summer if loan is a success. I have to say he comes across quite well and mature in his interview. Finally he said he had lost 1.5 years of his footballing career but no regrets and all part of the experience. He just wants to play football.

Lets hope we do a Huddlestone or a BAE with him. They were saying the same things a few months before getting dug into the starting 11.

IF it's true that Gio was off to Barcelona a lot of weekends partying then I agree with Harry not playing him and letting him out on loan, he needs to focus and show dedication.

Not sure how true those itk stories are though.

Presumably, if he had a match to prepare for/play in he wouldn't of had the time to take little trips back to Barcelona.

The trips are just as likely to be a symptom of his ommission from matchday squads, aswell as the cause.

i hope he gets injured so he cant play for galatasaray for the whole duration of his loan spell and returns to us... that way they wont be (otherwise imminently) impressed and wont buy him.

What a load of shit.

You know that injuries are negative? Look at Woodgate, King, Ashton (West Ham) and countless other players who lose seasons of football or even have to retire.

You know injuries mean you don't develop as a footballer as you can't play. And if you can't play how do you improve?

Wishing injuries on players in other teams is something I don't like to see, but at least I understand where that's coming from. Wishing injury on a SPURS player just because you are paranoid they will buy him next summer is simply wrong. If he does well and we wanna keep him AND HE wants to return he will return. If he doesn't do well, or if we don't want him back, or if he wants out, he won't return.

you're clutching at straws, they have an option to buy him so if they want him and we want him back.. they'll get him. he gets the final say and he defo wudnt choose us over them because of how poorly he has been treated. + the added fact that rijkaard is boss of galatasary. the only thing in our advantage is that theres a whole host of leagues, inclusing epl obviously, better than the turkish league; i mean why would world class / potential world class players move there unless they were going into retirement?

and i didnt mean that injury thing literally oh my gosh, i was just expressin my dissapointment in a shocking way. i mean, what is the chance of him gettin injured when hes actually not even playing, lol.

Bale plays for Wales, where are they ranked?

Wilson plays for Honduras, where are they ranked.....?

kind of my point guys.. stating that he's good because he played well against costa rica, or that he's the best player in the mexican team means fuck all,, he could be ryan giggs or he could not be.. it's a stupid point and doesn't prove a sodding thing about his ability to play in the premierleague

Hailed as ‘the next Ronaldinho’, the pressure was on Giovani Dos Santos from the day he made his first appearance in a Barcelona shirt. Ronaldinho was ruling the World, and claims that he was the next best thing since Lionel Messi set the bar as high as possible for a boy aged just 18. Not only did the little Mexican possess great balance, trickery to make defenders dizzy and a good shot, but he also looked like the Samba ace. As if by irony, his fall from being one of the best youngsters in the world to a forgotten prodigy coincided with the demise of his Brazilian counter-part.
The rise of Lionel Messi and afterwards, Bojan, sent Dos Santos down the pecking order at the Camp Nou. He wanted first team football and after Barca indicated that would not be the case he decided to leave, choosing North London in the form of Tottenham.
Arriving with an £8.6million value and high expectations, Dos Santos initially enjoyed a good start with a handful of pre-season goals. This was to be his only true contribution in his spell at Spurs and, after a stint on loan at Ipswich Town, he has moved to Galatasaray in the hope of reviving his career.
Still only 20 years old, Dos Santos has time to fulfil his full potential. He has teamed up, once again, with Frank Rijkaard. It was Rijkaard who first presented him with a chance in the Barcelona first team and he will undoubtedly be aware of the talents his latest signing possesses.
So will Frank Rijkaard be able to get the best out of his former student, or was it simply a lack of being able to adjust to life in England that hindered his time at Spurs.
It is widely reported that some player’s simply struggle to adjust to the English game. Certainly coming from a team like Barcelona, who rely more on technique than physical prowess, will have been a problem initially. Also the style of play may have affected him, the Spanish game is more open and Barca have, for years, played with a 4-3-3 system in which he would occupy a role on either wing. Defensive duties may not have been a huge requirement under the dazzling lights of the Camp Nou but certainly Harry Redknapp will have expected more industry from a midfielder.
Rijkaard will know how the Mexican works. What makes him tick, where he is best utilised and more importantly, how to get it out of him. The Dutchman has already begun work on moulding the team to a system similar to the one he used at Barca. With Jo playing through the middle he has a choice of Harry Kewell, Dos Santos or Kader Keita to join Arda Turan in the creative roles just behind.
After being welcomed in Istanbul like a king and enjoying a successful second half in his first league appearance Dos Santos will feel obliged to repay the faith given to him by both manager and supporter. With a place in the Mexico squad at stake this could be his chance to finally prove to the World that he was not the next Ronaldinho but simply, the only, Giovani Dos Santos.
