As I mentioned above this can be very rapid and fatal. I don't thionk anything could have been done as the prognosis is very poor if I'm correct.

"I think he might have had a type of Acute promyelocytic leukaemia, a malignant subtype of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

This can be extremely rapid with death from bleeding, infection, etc. from my understanding".

Terrible news for his family.

Yep. He climbed Snowden with some work colleagues about 1 week prior. He wasn't unfit, or unhealthy.
