Apologies if this has been asked before but has anyone ever captained a team to two World Cup triumphs? Just thinking about our Hugo.

Posted this before the tournament:

I don't think France have much chance of winning the World Cup, but if they do I only found out today that Hugo will be the first captain to lift the trophy twice. That would be absolutely monumental.

Ignore the first part, it's irrelevant. ?

Do you think? Personally I think they’ve looked pretty average tonight and with any kind of quality & composure in the box, Morocco would be ahead.
They’re lightning on the break but I’ve not been blown away by them at all.

I dont think any team has been great and a complete team but Argentina v France has ended with the two best teams in the tournament I think. France arent swashbuckling but nor are Argentina - but both teams get the job done - effective.

This France team is so boring and functional. Allez Les Snooze
International football. They’re unconvincing but they’re just smart enough and just have enough quality. But they rode their luck tonight, against England too. Fine margins innit.

not necessarily brilliant to watch but they get the job done, which is enough. You don't stumble your way into 2 consecutive World Cup Finals. they're good in the sense of creating their own luck and opportunities which the top teams do and is what separates the top nations from the rest.

theres a reason the likes of France, Croatia etc always advance and teams like England fall short. their talismen (Mbappe, Henry, Modric etc) produce and ours crumble on the big occasion (Kane, Beckham, Rooney)

So it's Messi v Mbappe and Romero v Lloris. We're guaranteed a World Cup winner coming back to Hotspur Way and neither were bit part players during the tournament.

Either way I'm good with it. Messi goes out with a bang as the greatest player or our club captain wins it as captain back to back. And it's not like Hugo has only just joined us, he is proper Spurs. He has been here a decade. Just as much one of our own as Harry is. Be well proud of Hugo if they do it.

I thought Morocco were much the better side, similar to England v France. But begs the question if thats how the French’s want to play. Who knows. I’m hoping Argentina win the final.
