Well Conte's certainly not choosing us over United and I am not gettong sucked in.

I do however doubt United are real serious about Conte. They deliberated after the Liverpool defeat and do seem reluctant to press the Conte or Zidane button for whatever reason.

I just don't see their hierarchy really really wanting him. They don't want a Mourinho repeat.

Conte’s team wouldn’t use Tottenham Hotspur to flush out United. All that would achieve is Man Utd being put off of appointing someone who “wanted” to join Spurs

How ironic would it be if United thrashing us led to Nuno getting the sack, which led to Ole getting the sack so as to prevent us from replacing Nuno with Conte. Imagine how that would feel if you were Solskjaer.
Then end of the season Ole gets the sack and United appoint Poch - Conte walks out on us next summer given we won’t spend !

I'm actually not even mad at Nuno, he's just an average coach so far out of his depth that should have never even been considered.

Going to bed knowing that this thread will be at least 20 pages longer in the morning and anticipate waking up early to go through all of them. That's exciting. But also realizing that should only happen during the transfer window. Not 10 games into a season. The joys of being a Spurs fan....

Levy may have no choice but to deliver now. The fan base has him backed into a corner.

If Conte doesn't come after it being reported all over the place the fans will be livid and rightfully so. That would be the final straw that breaks the camels back to a half empty stadium and fan protests.

We've been fucked around and lied to by him for far too long.

Incredible, except it's all too credible. Wouldn't back Conte in the summer, now we might.
Well I wanted Conte then and hope we get him now, meantime we've wasted a third of a season

It is strange because Di Marzio wasn’t ever really that big on Conte to us in the summer, he was the only journo that was holding back.

Surely it wouldn’t be all over the news like this if it was just a ploy to get United to pull the trigger.

It's not really all over the news though. DiMarzio has posted it and a few of his Italian mates are backing it up as they always do. Romano posts everything DiMarzio says like 10 mins after him, they literally work together.

Conte spent the last week briefing DiMarzio and co that he's desperate for the United job. Chances are he's seen that Nuno is about to get the can so has had some stuff leaked/briefed to DiMarzio about maybe being willing to come here to force United's hand and make them decide whether they actually want him.

If I was him and I was desperate for the United job I'd probably do the same thing.

smokescreens rarely happen nowadays. people, including myself, are being cynical in order to detach themselves so, when it inevitably falls through, it won't hurt as much.

it won't be because this approach is being used to lure united out like some game of cat and mouse, though
