I hope the reason or justification for only a 4 point is given in this case. And I certainly hope that it isn’t reduced on appeal as it will make it even more ridiculous.
What is ridiculous is this from the bbc:

The league's rules state any appeals process should "conclude no later than and if possible some time before 24 May" - five days after the season finishes.

Entering the business end of the season yet poor old Luton (and I don’t particularly like them anyway) could find that an appeal decides to reduce it by a further point and forest stay up on goal difference.
How on earth is that fair?
It’ll be interesting to see how that stacks up in a court of law if it came to it.

it's the PL rulebook that's reponsible for "no later that May 24" , PL don't even have set punishments for rule breaking apart from going into admistration which is 9 points.

I'd say they've given the two points back so that Forrest don't appeal it. My guess is this has already been agreed with Forrest's owners.

Will Everton get a further 6 for the new offence reduced to 4 , would leave them level with Forest but better GD.

Atlético offered €50m in June. Accept that & you could have avoided this. Instead you hold out for 2 months, accept pretty much that same amount & get a 4 point deduction that might cost you hundreds of millions if you fail to stay up. How stupid are you, Forest? They are lucky it was only a 4 point deduction with that level of stupidity. Unbelievably dumb.

Is 10 points a fair punishment when a club going into administration is only nine?

I suppose it depends on the severity of the breach but I felt 10 was excessive at the time and six felt about right.
Up the points for the club going into admin then?

They docked them points using their own guidelines and then said 'but we like you so have a few back'.

Ridiculous.

'No rule breaking guys. Unless you're shit at your jobs or hold out for more money which means you break the rules. Then the rules get yeeted out the window.'

F'ing b*ttlers, the lot of them.

Why would you lessen the points for cooperating. Absurd.

I think the idea is to show other teams that if they co-operate they'll be treated fairly. Everton tried to hide and delay their wrong doings so any points deduction would be the following season.

Agree. It should be the other way around. The standard penalty is what you get if you cooperate completely. Any lack of cooperation should then see additional penalties added.

Forest have no leg to stand on they’ve signed about 400 players, mabye don’t do that next time if you want to stay within FFP rules 🤦‍♂️ muppets.

I think it's their fault, they should have sold "Player A" before the financial deadline.

At the end of the day, a deadline is a deadline. just because there is a chance of getting a better deal, once you miss the date you get a fine.

personally, I feel they will just take the hit and move on. waiting to hear about city and Chelsea, I won't hold my breath.

Once again it shows how poor the promoted teams are this season that even with a few point deductions for their closest competitors you still strongly expect all three of them to go back down again from simply not being able to win games regardless.

Feel like I'm losing my mind reading all the takes on forest and how harsh it is. They signed an insane amount of players, it was very obvious what would happen then
