Enjoyed going yesterday despite the result. Yes, City have much more money than us so consequently better players.

We have gone backwards and do look miles off challenging but that was also the case when Bale left and we were awful under AVB and that turned around quickly, so all hope is not lost!

Not only is Winks nowhere near good enough, he's a coward and a snake. We've got some really over entitled players in the squad who are too happy to pick up their obscene wages and barely put any effort in. They lack the talent and the mentality.

The problem runners deeper though, unless we appoint someone to completely oversee the recruitment side, set a philosophy, and everyone aligns to reach that vision, we will get nowhere.

The problem we have is Levy has his own opinion on the players which seems to be the most important opinion at the club. It'c clear for example that Levy rates Alli and Winks and wants them to come good. Sissoko should have been sold, infact he never should have been signed.

We are fucked and it's only by sheer luck that we have Kane come through that stops us playing in the bottom half of the table, a club like us will never in a million years sign a player like that, and we will never see another like him. If we are lucky enough to see another wonder kid come through, they'll probably not be anywhere near as loyal and will fuck off ASAP.

Levy has made a complete mess of this club the last few years, it's time he stepped aside and let someone with football knowledge take over.

People need to stop thinking the grass isn't always greener, we've seen the grass on this side for 20 years, I'll take my chances thanks.

Agree, but not winning the midfield and surrendering the midfield are two different things. Up to the first substitutions, we were losing the midfield but contesting. The few half chances and breaks came through Lo Celso creating some space or Moura making a run. Removing the two that provided any link between the front three and where the rest of the game was being played spelled the end. Lo Celso, Moura, or a Lamela or Ndombele sub were what was needed to get Kane into the game or provide Bale an opportunity to do something special that he is capable of to steal a goal.

I understand the original game plan. Great keeping and not panicking in our own box had done its job and we were growing into actually having a go. That immediately stopped with that sub. Sissoko, Winks, and Hojbjerg, with Aurier and Regulion pinned back, are just not the group to transition any possession into an attack. This was exacerbated with the Dele introduction, now bring the total to 4 players who are going to sit on an island and provide nothing since there was no one to get the ball up to their feet.

The midfield needs a lot of work before next season to see any sort of improvement.
I agree. It is the midfield that is the source of our problems. We seem disjointed and there is not much creativity apart from Lo Selso and Ndombele. I think Højbjerg has brought with him a certain imbalance even though he is a good player. We need a different combination to create forward links and shield the defence!

Can only cast an envious eye at the city fans who expect to win big game's, we on the other hand don't they must be buzzing with how much they win whereas us fan's will never know.

Of course they are expect to win big games. They have the best manager in the world and have the financial wealth of a country backing them.

First time post, very long time lurker! I am actually so disgusted at that performance today I sent an email to club. Main points were no heart again, no trying in the last 5 minutes when losing, and Kane and Hugo deserve so much better, and no more of my money into the club after that miserable week of “European Super League” and paying off Jose just for us to buy the second rate options every season. Also don’t want to see certain players “play” for us again.

Welcome!

Now run for your fucking life while you've still got one.

Was anyone else disgusted by Martin Tyler’s comments during his 2 minute rant about the ESL during the game, he basically made out that spurs and Daniel Levy in particular, were worse than the other 5 clubs, because, Spurs are English owned and run by an English man, and as such, should have more loyalty to english football than foreign owner’s who don’t live here.

Also, just after that he made a joke and belittled Spurs when, Neville, said both teams yesterday were big teams, and Tyler said, you’re thinking of a week earlier and then laughed at his own cleverness.

If, I had anything to do with Spurs I’d be putting in a complaint to sky, telling them that unless Levy and Spurs get an on air apology from Tyler, he wouldn’t be allowed in Spurs stadium to commentate on a game if he didn’t!

Jeez you all think Sky punditry and commentary is bad. ESPN was horrific.

Banging on about how City were completely annihilating us (despite it being 0-0, and shots on target 1 each on the hour mark). Talking about how what Pep has done with Sterling has been "remarkable", like he was Andy Reid before Pep got hold of him. Talking about David and Goliath as though we were The King's Head, Hackney Marshes, but also simultaneously not giving us any credit for the good defensive work.

Oh and they mentioned about a dozen times that the City GK is american.

Supposedly Jose got £5m for a cup win this season and an extra £5m added to his package if sacked. that doesnt sound like Levy at all, sacking him just before!

Imagine if "he who should have been sent off" had hit the post with that header and we'd seen the game out to win on penalties or even nicked a winner.
Would people be saying we were lucky and didn't deserve to win or would they say it was a tactical masterpiece and Spurs defended with heart and soul for the win?
By people I don't mean biased fans of other clubs.

Why? Is our rank ineptitude both on and off the field some sort of closed shop secret? It annoys because the truth hurts. They have an opinion, that's all and TBF it's hard to argue against that really. IMO of course, I know this pundit business is a thing for some people so i'll be in the minority here :D

I played for the Kings Head over Hackney Marshes we were a mean bunch not sure if we played under todays rules we would have survived we had abandoned the beautiful game and introduced the brutal game-

but to be fair they were completely battering us even though it was none each

I agree with most of this A&C, but I think the guy's point was actually that we were getting more flak because our ownership is primarily English. And therefore we should have know better than to get involved with the Super League, being more "in tune" culturally. So that ipso facto makes what the other clubs did less disagreeable.

you mean like City and their ever caring manager who wants a fare playing field yet didn't do a thing while their near neighbours Bury faded into football obscurity despite being founder members of the football League and oh yeah the Premier League moved heaven and earth to save them as well - yet were so voiciferous about keeping football for the fans maybe with the exception of Bury though

That's fair enough but at one point they went on for a minute about how great he is because he ran fast. That was it. He dropped his shoulder and sprinted away from one of our players for like 3 yards. Cue a minute of how great he is. It was verging on ridiculous.

I get it, I really do. The lad is bloody brilliant, though.

It's not so long ago that people (on here) were aggrieved that commentators didn't go on & on about Lamelas Rabona. We can't have it both ways?

I wish we had a Foden, and I'd love to listen to commentary teams constantly praising him.

Unfortunately we don't have a Foden. We have Phoneys.

You're comparing scoring from a rabona to "running for 3 yards". That was literally it. It was way over the top.

Fair enough if that's all the commentators were specifically saying re the 3-yard sprint. If there was no context they gave beyond that, then just bad commentary. But, there’s something there with Foden and that quick turn/sprint.

He can turn, shift and go past players left or right with those quick bursts of acceleration very much like prime Hazard. It is a rare gift, but only because he retains the control of the ball at speed after doing that and has similar tools to Hazard re vision and seeing spaces, dribbling, passing ability to unbalance opponent’s defensive shape in the next phase while he’s going forward with the ball.

Hazard’s lost some of that quick turn and explosive, 3-yard sprint in his game, injuries haven’t helped, and it makes him far less of an offensive threat than he was.

No I'm not. They are very good. I know that. I saw a severe lack of effort again today though. I think it's been well established I don't like Winks but can anybody point me to anything at all he did in 90 minutes today. Seriously anything??
He clipped one nice pass 15 yards over an on pressing Sterling to the left to Reggi’s feet, then jogged away very impressed with himself ?

He also then spaffed a 30 yard cross field switch straight out of play ?
