I think it is time to let the hounds (media) loose on Uefa and FIFA and let them rip both organisations to shreds.

Russia fair enough, even though the mafia there will make a fortune out of it, but Qatar???? I hope Blatter and Co drown in their oil.

Do you think FIFA is corrupt? If so, why?

There is just something about it that doesn't seem right... Russian billionaires just putting money in peoples pockets to tick in that little box next to Russia.

And Qatari billionaires doing the same. They had 11 votes in the first round of voting - an amazing figure since theirs was the only 2022 bid which received any "high risk" factors from FIFA's own inspection committee. If you think the Russians bought 2018, then you can be sure Qatar bought 2022.
And don't believe all this bollocks about "temperatures are into the 40s centigrade in the summer." They are into the 50s - every day from mid-June to late August.
However, a local law says anytime the official temperature reaches 50c, then labourers (from South Asia mainly) working on outside construction sites are allowed to stop work.
But the owners of those building projects are well-connected Qataris.
Hence, the official temperature never exceeds 49c, even when every man and his camel knows it has!
It actually reached 60c one day in August this year.

If the temperatures a big factor won't they play the games early morning and late at night when it's cooler?

Early morning will be no good for European audiences, so they'll be played early to mid-evening. It's true the temperatures are lower then (about 35-40c) but that's when the humidity gets higher (up to 90%).
Still, the temperatures will be the least of the worries for visiting football fans.

I haven't seen Panorama either. But ...

Next to the Olympics, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world, and the TV audience might be even bigger, for all I know. The winning country gets an immediate boost to its economy from the feel-good factor, and although costs are involved there is little doubt that overall the benefits are enormous, and that doesn't include intangibles like national pride and enhanced international kudos. Many countries are going to want it, a lot, and not just so that they can watch some good football.

There are just 22 men whose votes determine which country gets the World Cup, on whom the persuasive wiles of the competing nations will be focused. It's a small step from treating people like honoured guests, wining and dining them in sumptuous comfort, to stuffing wads of wonga into their hands to use as they wish in the furtherment of sport in their home nations.

So unless those 22 happen to be so saintly that they make the Boy Scouts look like Archibald & Crooks without the Archibald, then FIFA, or at least part of it, is going to be corrupt.

But, hating to spoil things for our younger viewers like LMD, FIFA isn't alone in this.

I understand the new stadiums will all be covered and Air Conditioned.

On completion of the tournament most of the stadiums will be 'flat-packed' and donated to poorer countries in the region.

Still in a bad mood about it. It's also very frustrating as I have a mate who just gives me the 'sensible talk' and tells me 'I have no proof' 'Tell me why FIFA is corrupt'. No matter what i say, he challenges everything and I can never really get my point across, its annoying.

What a bunch of bitter ban words. So pathetic. Corrupt? probably. Much like your government. Much like mine. But my panties aren't all up in a bunch because Qatar put in a better big than we did.

You've always held that you should get the game because you started it. That's all you have ever done. You've held FIFA in contempt for so long and done nothing to work with them, why would you ever expect them to give you shit. So typical to think the world revolves around you when you're just a satellite, only known because JK Rowling, Top Gear and Manchester United.

You think the world hates you, when you don't even realize the world doesn't really think about you at all, other than for this silly imploding league.

But I bet you'll break away from FIFA and create your own Commonwealth version of the World Cup. Maybe you'll win something finally.

I think its quite clear the voting is a little odd...not sure id use corrupt though. There are 22 people voting for these world cups as in most situations you will vote for your 'friends'

We arent that involved within FIFA and so we dont have enough pull clout and therefore will never get the votes.

The country needs to realise that getting a world cup is all about making some friends within FIFA and if we want to host it...thats what we should do.

I love how every thread on all of the news networks turns into Britain bashing. Man we have got to start showing some pride. Lets ignore silly cock-waving contests like this and actually concentrate on making Britain a better place.

DoublePivot, you are entitled to your opinion, but why are you a Spurs fan if you dislike Britain so much?

This bidding process was corrupt, but so is the whole world.
