Llorente wouldn't be a third striker if brought in. He would be first choice I think.

Damiao would make a decent third option, because he would be the third best at the club firstly! But I doubt he sees himself as back up and his price tag seems far too much for what he brings. Lewandowski is way too expensive.

I don't think we will get any of them anyway.

To those who have seen more of Llorente than I have; what will he be able to offer the team that Adebayor doesn't? I'd say he's a better finisher, but Ade better with the ball at his feet. Apart from that the two seem quite similar to me.

Llorente would be nice, but I don't think he's the type of striker we need ATM. If we are going to bring in a third striker I feel it should be a young player who offers both the finishing of Defoe and the physical presence of Adebayor so that they can play with both of them, or as a lone striker. A player like Damiao or Lewandowski. Then again Kane looks like he could develop into this type of player once he gets his man strength.
I have only seen Llorente play a handful of times, but I think he is better in the air than Adebayor, slightly stronger, a better finisher, and works harder than Adebayor. Adebayor is more agile and quick, and drops deeper to help with the build up play. Overall, I think Llorente would be better.

Stories in the Spanish press are that Juve met with Bilbao and offered 4 mil euros max.
They seem to think he'll end up in Juve.

Hell if we could get him for six million we could toss another three or four on as a signing bonus and solve the wage problem...

Yeah, but we won't. I don't understand it tbh. Yeah he is about to be able to move on a free (and he won't pick us!), but overpaying on a player in that situation still makes sense if your alternative is to sign a guy with several years left on his contract. The logic seems non-existent sometimes. A lot of conversations like this I suppose:

1: "Hey, we could sign Llorente for 6m"
2: "6m is too much for a guy in the last year of his contract, no thanks."
1: "Well, we could get this guy who is of the same skill/age as Llorente for 15m. He has 3 yrs left on his contract still."
2: "Fuck me, that is a great deal. Sign him up!"
1: "Yeah, fuck the 9m difference, this is about principle."

Curious what players you think this has happened for? I certainly see steps one and two, but overpaying for players is not something I think we've made a habit of...

He's now in the category of players who are free to talk to anyone about their future which I think also includes Holtby.

Sounds like they would be a good pair

I'm not sure you're right, as I'm sure we did something similar to this with Ade.

As a Juventino I'm happy with his. I think he's better suited to Italy than England and Juve really need a good number 9 type striker.

Disappointed to miss out as a Spurs fan, but I think we're in need of a number 10 a lot more.
I rate Llorente really high, but I'm with you on this one.

Llorente - in some attributes - is really close to Adebayor. Even if I would see him as an upgrade (wich I do), I don't think that it would be wise to splash the wagebill for this kind of signing. And he will be very costly, even if he goes for free.
Don't really think that we could afford him in the first place, tbh.

Agree. Llorente is by far the better player.

More importantly he is far more consistent.

Juve are trying to bait Bilbao, they want him now and don't need to tell Bilbao that their talking to Llorente.
