My mate said if they sold Llorente they would definately prefer to sell to a foreign team rather than Madrid or another Spanish team. So I'd say this one could have legs but I fear other teams will be sniffing round him such as Man City, Chelsea and maybe a couple of the big Italian teams.

Would love us to sign him though! Splash the cash on this fella and we could win the league with him =) he could convince Torres to come too, Torres and Llorente up top together would be fairly decent.

Im copying Christian Balers post in the January thread here:

"I've heard a rumour, & it is just a rumour, that we've already had a bid tabled for Llorente & Bilbao are effectively waiting to see if anyone puts in a better offer. If not, then they will accept the bid from us. They are saying it is almost certain that Llorente will leave this winter as Bilbao want the money."

" I think its what they're saying in Spain. I'm sure I've seen it written in some blogs too. Basically they believe Spurs have met Bilbao's minimum valuation. Everyone over there believes Llorente will leave this january (they've been saying it for months) and Bilbao will deffo sell. They were expecting Real Madrid to go in for him tho, which is probably why they've not accepted our offer outright (if there has been one). However, this was before Benzema decided to start playing. I do wonder whether Madrid will sanction a big signing now that Benzema is playing better, especially this January.

City is the other team they're looking at, but I think they've got their hearts set on Dzeko. So we might just get our man with our initial bid.

I have no idea tho whether we are prepared to get into an auction tho if someone does better us. 1 thing is certain tho, Llorente will leave Bilbao."

"He's on (allegedly) €1.8m per year. That is less than £30kpw & it is part of the most expensive contract ever awarded by Athletic Bilbao. We could double those wages quite easily.

However, his release clause is €36m. Only in October (when it was strongly believed that he would be going to Real) Llorente said that he did not expect to be sold as he could not see anyone meeting his release clause. However, we all know it doesn't quite work like that - a release clause is only there to protect a club from selling a player they want to keep. Bilbao need the money tho, so Llorente will leave for less than the release clause. His contract is still very long tho (I think he has 3 years left) so he will still command a high price"

Llorente has said he wants to start next season at Bilbao. Players do say things but I don't think he's forcing a move.

Bilbao are like a national team for Basques. He'd never force a move, but that's not saying he has greater ambitions.

Hopefully if we've made an offer its of sufficient gravity that the option to wait for Real in the summer may not come... Bilbao may feel they have to sell him for a good price now.

Also good to see the boys are back in town! The "concerned" members of our throng from last window.... Transfer target hysteria starts once more, Arry wont buy anyone his son doesnt go to the pub with, or anyone who doesnt go dog walking on Sandbanks, anyone who doesn't have a twitch or tic of some sort, anyone who doesn't like golf etc. etc.

Balls - I'm reading that Llorente is Real's main target. Quite frankly, I think he's the only realistically available striker that would take us to the next level. Gutted - I suppose once Ronaldo is commeting on how well Llorente would fit in at Real, the deal's pretty much done?

It's pretty widespread in Spain that Real have already agreed a pre-contract with Llorente for the summer.

of all the players we're rumoured to be after, this is the one I want at Spurs the most

Now that Real got Ade I wonder if that means the end of their interest in Llorente...

Llorente has been doing it for years, its about time he got a big move and proved his talent.

Would be a great signing

Not just a great player in his own right but also a fantastic fit for us and our needs. Basically a better version of Carroll (who also would be a great signing).

Real have only loaned Ade - they can still sign Llorente in the summer. I'd love us to get him though.

With Madrid bidding for Aguero I wonder if they are really after Llorente, they might go for Aguero again in the summer

I love the caption on one of his photos on wikipedia:

Llorente (right, with number 16, marked by Peter Crouch) moments before his first goal for the Spanish national team.

Errr....so according to the latest ITK, the player who I most want to come to Spurs may well be doing so! This guy would be the missing piece for us. I am just so impressed with his blend of grace and power. A wonderful striker, a joy to watch. Please!
