Why it could happen:

Because he continues to play well even after the World Cup.

The young Spanish striker made an impressive debut this past summer in the World Cup with Spain's national team. With or without the injury to Fernando Torres, Llorente was a fixture in the lineup.

Llorente's impressive play has not slowed since this summer as he is currently third in La Liga in scoring. He was on most team's radars prior to the start of the season, but with his continued solid play, he is a desirable acquisition for many teams.

Possible Destinations:

Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham

Likelihood of happening:

Adios Llorente, this transfer will happen.

Atletico Bilbao seems content on letting their striker leave. They would probably like to keep him, but the offers will likely be too good to pass up. Tottenham has already made a bid for Llorente and appears willing to meet the minimum price set by Bilbao.

So really the only question is whether another club will swoop in with a better offer and steal him from the Spurs. With Manchester City likely parting ways with Tevez, they are in need of a striker. There is no end to City's pocketbooks and if they are interested, they could easily outbid Tottenham and acquire Llorente.

The most interesting aspect is the supposed offer we have already made. Why would this blog be the only people ITK on such a thing?

Llorente's an interesting one. He's become a lot more prolific in the last year and has been displacing out-of-form Torres for Spain. Any La Liga watchers know if he's just having a hot streak or has moved on to the next level?

He seems like he could be the most realistic of the good, young, big striker prospects, with Dzeko being very expensive (and a possible sell-out prick), and Benzema and Gomez becoming key players for Real and Bayern. Supposedly Real and Barcelona are interested in him too though.

Has everything and really could be our Drogba. Think he's out of our league really though.

Apparently Mourinho is not very happy with benzema and is willing let him go in the summer and he still wants a new striker this window

And with Juventus looking for a striker this window and only allowed to sign a Eu player, so if the player is willing to go italy, they will try to sign
Llorente
Benzema
Gomez

That would be my short list for us too.

Think we can offer as much to a potential signing as Juve now - there's only maybe 7 other clubs (Chelsea, City, Utd, Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Inter; possibly Milan and Arsenal too) out there who we can't compete with. If those clubs aren't interested in a player then we pretty much top the best of the rest now.

Juventus are not a big draw like they once were though

Reminiscent of Berb's assist of the season for Man U a couple years ago.

Thanks for the link, if we're interested in Carroll, why not go for a classier version (on and off the field)?

This guy seems perfect for us but I don't think we have the money to fund a transfer like this. Surely he would cost 25m+ ?

Agree with both. Caroll would cost us at around 15-20m, so why not give 5-10m more for Llorente who has all the skills Caroll has, just on a level higher.

Harry has already proven he prefers players who are already proven in the prem who can come in and hit the ground running straight away. I think this would sway his decision if it was a choice between Carroll or Llorente.

Hopefully seeing the difference between vdV and Joe Cole this season will correct that view.

Exactly.

Harry's reported targets rarely fill me with great confidence, always average predictable players. He needs to think outside the box for a second.

Steven Pienaar, Carlton Cole, Ryan Babel, and Scott Parker...the title is in our grasp!
