Am i the only person who thinks this could be our transfer buisness done apart from maybe a late bid for Orban Gift.
I feel we will have the inevitable unable to trim our squad down excuses again.
Ornstein was on tv saying we’ve already pre-spent the Kane money. Even if we get a one or two more in I wouldn’t expect anything splashy.

I think you might well be right

it would leave us a little short up front in the first XI, and worryingly light in depth or rotation options at CB

My guy feel is we’ll try for another CB (may or may not succeed) and get Orban.

Otherwise, it’s super quiet on all other fronts and I think that’s quite telling

Yep so true, i find it strange that the Saudi's are after so many players other than ours.
Who knows. Maybe none of the ones we can't offer game time to don't appeal to the Saudis or maybe the players concerned aren't interested.

The idea that we don’t bring any more quality strikers/wingers in is a very depressing one to me. Richy looks like he needs twice as many chances as Kane to score goals and our wingers look like serving up next to nothing. Solomon and Perisic are the only ones that have produced anything at all under Ange. We either need big money spent on a new striker or a couple of wingers. I really fear if we don’t that we will be outside the European places yet again and Ange won’t have been backed like he deserves at all. The blame of course will wrongly fall at his feet too. We’ve got some very good players and we’ll play some nice stuff but we look blunt in attack without Kane and you don’t finish anywhere near the top 6 without a top class forward line

The best we can hope for, recognising the approach of the club, is a young striker, a well priced CB and perhaps a wide forward.

I would love it be different, but I reckon we’ll be ok the quiet side. Which is a real shame

Badly need a CB and striker like you said could makes a big difference on if we make Europe or not.
Levy doesn't do fast transfers and not long left so have my doubts.
Hopefully he suprises us all 😀

Have we also pre spent the TV revenue and the stadium revenue? Where is Levy putting the money if so? I can see what Ornstein is saying but every other club has a budget before selling there best player

Danny Boy is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can get away with a zero net spend in 2023. These days throwing in £100m plus sales a season only keeps you treading water. On average we have tended to pump in just under £90m net per season the last 4 years since the stadium opening. That's about 2/3 of what we should actually be putting in.

His job should be to get a few million for those on the transfer list and pump in £150m on 3 players over the next couple of weeks.

As he always loves to say, "everything we earn goes back to the Club". In other words reinvestment in Tottenham, which is everything related to Tottenham basically, jsut not the first team :p

On a serious note though, the main problem has not been the total money spent , it's the always "2 for 1" instead of 1 quality approach.

Splashing cash might not always be the right thing, but if you want to pretend that you are a top 6 Club in the biggest league in the world, and also the 9th richest club in the world, then you at a minimum need to freshen up the squad and invest 150-200 mill each year or you will fall of

Yes, I’ve posted this twice now from Eccleshare on the Athletic, but SC is on about the Kane money nevertheless. I truly think most of it’s gone and the club is including Kulu and Porro in their summer business. I expect us to do what outs we can and then a cheaper forward option (probably Orban, unless his prices explodes).

The problem is total money spent also though. We are putting in 2/3 of what we should be. The only excuse for putting less in are exceptional circumstances such as free transfers, when you're performing so well that you don't need to, or you have built a conveyor belt of replacement players from the academy and the development squad. Levy has achieved neither so that sustained spending is a must.

He is like Boehly but without the spending.

You're talking as if players are a commodity like oil and a fixed bid of X delivers Y.

What we "should" be putting in is improvements in recruitment so that our hit rate increases whether we spend 60 million on someone or 20 million.

Bissouma was pure fire on Sunday and he cost like a third of Richy.

Chelsea spunked hundred of millions and finished bottom half.

Of course if we're consistently addressing our needs then it's a moot point. But we aren't. Funnily enough we are usually 2/3 or 3/4 of what we need squad wise.

Let me rephrase. DL should be saying to Ange and the recruitment team: We can give you £100m plus sales for the rest of the window. Spend it as you wish, if your needs are met without spending the cash, then it can go into next window's budget.

This is exactly what they are though, in the eyes of an accountant!!

Geting players like Bisouma on that fee is a lot of luck as well and what other teams need at that moment.

We can not do like Barca and have players wait until they are free transfers, because players are not lining up for Spurs, but if you see a player you know will strenghten us, then why not for ones actually pay the 10-15 extra asking price to get your first coice, instead of 49 out of 50 times take option 2 or 3.

Sorry, derailing the thread, on a personal note on Chiesa, i would stay clear not consistent enough for my liking.

Ironically, up until a few seasons ago, Levy could offload unwanted players to the likes of Hull and Stoke. Now it's way tougher. If the Saudis aren't interested in Ndombele for instance, then there's no other way besides cancelling his contract.
Indeed, since the days of offloading to Hull, etc. wages have gone up substantially, pricing our excess out of moves out regardless of our asking price.
