There looks set to be a defensive overhaul at Tottenham Hotspur this summer as new sporting director Fabio Paratici gets his hands on the side’s porous defence.

To save people clicking into a Daily Express link the 4 mentioned are Skriniar, Joachim Andersen, Nikola Milenkovic and Merih Demiral.

Skriniar I believe is very unlikely. If we sell Kane then it's possible but I believe we'll be looking for value.

Andersen seems a good bet and I know nothing of the other 2.

Thanks, the thought of opening it and seeing all the adverts and page jumping about was giving me heart palpitations!

Will be interesting to see if we get one of those four. Obviously it will be the cheapest and probably not an improvement.

Our current centre back options are Alderweireld, Rodon, Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga. If we go with a back 3 then Davies could be the lcb.

For me, Dier and Sanchez aren't good enough. I wonder if Alderweireld has another season in him.

Unless we sell Kane we're not going to have huge amounts to spend. Skriniar would be great but Andersen seems the most sensible and likely option.

I just don’t know where we go. I do know we need to completely redo the spine of the team. New centrebacks and new central midfielders. Until we do that and bring in real quality there then we are in the shit.

We need to get some signings right.

I remember Liverpool spending big on the likes of Henderson, Carroll, Charlie Adam (salary) and outside a few hits they were going nowhere. Then they bought Salah and Mane and they were going places.

Over the years Leicester have bought Mahrez, Vardy, Kante and others for peanuts.

The deals are all around. If we try to spend big right now and compete with the top clubs then I think we'll struggle.

If we make signings like Botman, Sabitzer, Thuram etc and get them right then we can start to improve.

“Paratici is thought to have had a hand in the appointment of incoming coach Fonseca.”
Another journo right on the cutting edge!

Your pretty much confirming what I was saying value is the key.

Well I've just read that article and found the journalist has no idea if we are even interested in any of the four. They are litterally just players we've been linked with in the past that Patrici "could" go for.

That’s the Express for you. The worst of the worst for any football news, let alone transfers.

Hate to say it but none of them are good enough. I don't think Toby has been for at least 2 years, Sanchez hasn't come on since we signed him, Dier is terrible. Bar one season I've never rated Davies either. I don't get why we haven't given Rodon or Tanganga more opportunities at CB given our plight, but if we had they might be ready to play a more crucial part for us next season. Signing 2 centre backs is essential this summer regardless of which formation we choose to play.

Value is the key but it is hard to spot gems in a side that is underperforming.
In fact if I were looking for value, I'd be sniffing around tottenham, as the squad is bloated for a non CL/europa side and the managers coming in are going to want to make changes without anytime to assess what they have.
That is idea conditions to pick up a few bargains.

I am probably contradicting myself here but I believe Rodon and Tanganga have excellent potential and with the right players alongside them could perform well this season.

It would be great if Alderweireld could lead the back for one more season. If not, maybe a Skriniar is what we need.

I agree, both have massive potential, esp Tanganga. Just shocked we kept giving Dier so many games last season when we could have developed one of these guys. But playing a pretty old Toby now while these guys learn around him isn't ideal. Let's hope they learn fast. It's important we sign a leader, not just great players. One reason why a Boateng on a short term deal wouldn't be terrible. Seems to still have his legs, moreso than Toby
