What a night and what a man. His post match presser was gold. Basically telling legohead to get back in his pram ?

I loved the bit where he talked about the postponed game for 1 case of covid and then said "I didn''t forget and my players didn't forget".

In hindsight was such a daft move for 1 case of covid.
We had no Kulu or Bentancur, and Sonny was out injured.

The improvement he's got out of so many of our players is truly remarkable. Not so long ago, Doherty was a donkey and Emerson one of the worst players in recent times. Look at them now. Bentancur and Kulusevski weren't good enough for Juve but have been incredible signings for us. Ben Davies is owning LCB. I know we all want stellar signings in the Summer, but I think we'll bring in some 'under the radar' signings that Conte knows he can get great things from. Have to trust this man implicitly.

Yeah, I remember feeling annoyed that they'd called it off at the time but I was far, far less confident about a win regardless of their squad situation and would've been completely unsurprised if we'd lost.

In comparison, before last night I felt like we were strong favourites and it was ours to lose.

Arteta shat the bed first time around. Last night he shat the entire bedroom.
EDIT; Just hoping that v Newcastle and Everton he shits the whole house.

The way that Antonio looks at Sonny

With his quotes in that interview there's an interesting insight into Conte's ability to adapt to the squad he is given - at Inter, when playing 3-5-2 to best utilise that squad (albeit when they had 5 substitutes that allowed him more flexibility to make changes) it was said that with metronomic consistency he would take off both wingbacks after 65mins as they were both knackered from having to cover so much ground. With Spurs, noting the lack of attacking attributes of the majority of our wing backs, he's focused on 3-4-3 and placed that ground covering aspect (that is vital to his tactical approach and defensive setup) on to Son and Kulusevski and hence why they are subbed so often.

That will make any moves in the summer interesting as whether we are in the CL or EL we will have many more matches. Whilst we all agree we need upgrades at wing backs, if, as seems highly likely, Bergwijn and possibly Moura move on, if he sticks to 3-4-3 we'll need investment in those wide forward areas to allow for rotation. That's why I think it'll be fascinating to see if we come out early next season favouring 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 and I guess our summer recruitment will give us a good indication of that.

But much more importantly, I'm surrounded by Arsenal fans in work today and am giving them absolute dogs abuse. Arteta's cry baby meltdown has just added to my delight to rub in their faces. COYS!

Son's corners are quite good, in-swinging with lots of pace. The problem is that we only have one routine, which is incredibly predictable and thus easy to defend unless absolutely perfect, and it involves trying to score with an angled, glancing header from a few metres before the near post. I'd love to see an actual headed flick on being attacked by Dier, Kane and Romero across the middle of the goal.
I am bumping myself and being a smug clairvoyant.

Doesn't matter whether we finish 4th or 5th this season, next year we're going to be a scary proposition.
I agree with this for our squad/plans as long as Conte stays but I think the difference between Arsenal finishing 4th or 5th could be huge for them and so makes it very important for us that we get 4th

It's win/win for me as long as Conte stays, which apart from some media shit stirring looks to be the case.

4th obviously CL.
5th means we get to develop young players in the Europa, which we have a better chance of winning than the CL if we choose to go for it.

I think CL means less for player recruitment than a lot of fans think. Sure there are players that won't sign if you aren't in CL, but I don't want players with that mentality anyway. You want players who want to play in the CL, but are all in on being a part of working to get there in the first place.

Nobody was going to forget. It was one of the most cowardly acts I’ve seen by a football club in my 30 plus years watch the game. Absolutely cowardly.

Which makes it all the more apt that we beat them 3 nil, the score usually awarded when an opposing team forfeits a match.

I think Managers are competitive and egotistic and for that reason I think Conte stays. He wants to pit his wits against two of the best managers in the world but for him to do that he wants and to be given a chance - on the pitch with the players he will have.

I dont think he will go regardless of CL and same goes for Kane. I think they see the bigger picture and that picture is we had a handicap this season in who we had. It was always a transitional year.

Cant wait for next season already with or without CL. I think five or six quality players (doesnt need to be world class) in key positions to have a first 16 as it were - I can really see us challenging for PL.

I think the preference for 3-4-3 this season is largely down to squad composition. I think we would have seen more use of the 3-5-2 had Skipp not been injured for months or we had a #10 option like Eriksen. I think the masterplan will be to have the team well drilled in both systems and that will be the aim for Paratici in the summer to deliver upon.
