So you get rid of two creative midfielders for two hard working ones?
Alli and winks need to go, people have forgotten them for some reason.

Because we need 4 hard working CMs to rotate for 2 positions if we have such an attack minded front 3 of kane vlahovic and son

Hojberg Skipp Kessie Brozovic for 2 positions

My read was that Conte said we needed to keep Kane, Levy couldn't give 100% assurance on that, so Conte was out given he left Inter over player sales.

Then we didn't sell Kane, which impressed Conte and then he was game. Nuno was screwed from that point on, if he didn't already perceive himself as a stop gap.

Of course this is all conjecture.

Probably as he was so uninspiring. It’s no coincidence that the elite managers have something about them that gets players running through brick walls.

Guardiola, Klopp, Conte and Tuchel have it, the likes of Nuno just don’t have it.

Players are no different to fans, we all found Nuno dull and Conte inspiring and same with the players.

There is a difference. The fans do it for free and the players are paid millions. They should work their nuts off under any circumstances for the money they're paid.

Lloris/???
Romero/Sanchez Dier/Rondon Davies/Tanganga
Royal/?? Skipp/?? Hojbjerg/Winks Regi/Sess
Moura/Gil Kane/Berg Son/??

Tanguy , Ali , Doherty, Gollini , Celso, Clarke looks to be the odd ones out

Celso hasnt played cause of injury so the jury is still out . But Doherty, Tanguy, Clarke dont seem to have a role in the team.

We are still a RWB, CDM and a LWF short.

Not even sure Sarr will get in the team when he comes in next year. Scarlett hasnt had a look in since Conte came .

I fully agree about Nuno, looking back it was a horrible decision to hire him, and if Levy wasn't involved in that he should've been.
What I dont get is the criticism for not getting Conte in the summer, maybe I've missed something but from what I've read we approached him, he turned us down, and just wasn't interested in coming then.
I agree. I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to criticise Levy or anyone else for not getting Conte in the summer without knowing the full story. But, appointing Nuno remains an exercise on tomfuckery

Think NDombele is the only certainty to be up for sale but I cant see anyone offering more than about half what we paid for him. He came on vs West Ham and the first thing he did was give away a needless FK, and the second thing he did was lose possession by trying to be too flashy. The third thing he did was jog slowly back after losing possession. It looked to me like he hasn't bought in at all and would be happy taking the easy option of going to another league.

Rodon probably on his way but we won't get much for him.

Although I think we would probably like to improve on Winks and Dele and wouldnt be averse if a decent offer came in for either, we need to be wary of our HG requirements if we have hopes of being in the CL next season. They would need to be replaced with other english club homegrowns. Wniks to Newcastle and get Ward Prowse would be great business imo.

From an accounting perspective isn’t that ok though as his fee is spread over the length of his contract. Get our money back and get his wages off the books. I’d rather we have that £200k a week to Hugo to get him sign a new contract for example.

Probably didn’t get it quite right today but had enough chances to win the game.
Dele on the wing never has worked

Today will have just further highlighted to Conte the weaknesses in our squad.

As Conte said we are at the start of a process with him so there will be ups and downs.

We clearly lack a top class creative CM but also our lack of depth in a few areas is surely pretty clear to Conte now:
•RWB - Doherty is Sunday league, sign someone who can play RWB & LWB and who will compete with Emerson

•CM - need an upgrade creative CM. If Ndombele & Lo Celso aren’t in favour then sell them and use that money to upgrade on Winks, PEH etc.

•AM!! - Dele surely needs to go, so often offers nothing, Bergwijn is ok but not that reliable, Gil is so raw. Need to sign a top draw AM to compete with Son & Lucas, ideally an upgrade on Lucas even

•ST - goes without saying we need at least 1 more

Conte first manager in our history to be unbeaten in first 7 league games.

Just relax, enjoy the ups and downs of the process with Conte and Paratici.

We were so unbalanced in a 532. He needed to play Ndombele or GLC in that midfield as he can’t expect Hojbjerg to be the primary creator and Dele offered nothing. We are so much more balanced with a double pivot and Lucas up front.

Expect him to learn a lot from this match.

Is it against Conte's religion to play 4 at the back with traditional full backs?

Thats 3 games where we have had decent time with an extra man and we have struggled to create chances. In fact, we have only scored 1 and have created very little.

Why did Doherty have to come on for Reguillon. It should have been lucas for Reguillon and Davies should have gone lb and royal could have just played rb. Southampton, like pool, literally parked the jumbo jet as soon as they went a man down, same for palace.

We need a passing 10. Get coutinho on loan or on the cheap in January. He is class just doesn't fit barca's system as they play two 8's and he ends up on the wing.

Conte said we have a lot of players good in transition with speed in behind but we need to work as a team when we have the ball and teams sit deep, today showed that but not only do we as a team and the current players need to improve this, we need to sign 3-4 players of better quality especially in creative and attacking areas.

He got the subs wrong today, especially the Doherty to LWB decision. We need an David Silva/Bernando Silva type player in our team. Really crying out for a creative spark to do damage in the attacking 3rd.

Surely Winks was the primary creator?
Also we didn't play with a back 5, certainly not in the 2nd half.

We have 3 days to prep for another tricky away game vs Watford. Conte and his staff will analyze the game and work out where improvement is needed. Sometimes you learn more from draws/defeats than wins.
