Conte and Klopp both want a one leg semi final. This is one of the things that will apparently be discussed when the managers meet the PL tomorrow. Hope they don’t change it cos I don’t fancy our chances in a one off away match at Chelsea even though Klopp said he’s happy to play theirs at Arsenal. (BBC)

Edit: I read this on the BBC site, I’m not suggesting either Conte or Klopp have a ‘BBC’….
If they go to 1 leg it surely has to be done at Wembley

The last 20 minutes against wham, were a case in point. Under Nuno & Jose, we would have caved in for sure... Hugo the hero of course, and some nervy moments, but the team got the result... and into a semi final that was unlikely, 4 weeks ago.

I’d rather a one off game, two legged games usually favour the better side, it’s easier to get one shock result than two. Plus there are far too many games anyway, I’m surprised the league cup reverted back to two legged semis. Should be one off games played at neutral venues.

Agree. One match is fine at a neutral venue. Chelsea and Arsenal will probably favour that too considering their 2nd legs would’ve been their away leg.

I fucking love this guy. Everything about him. The passion alone is just contagious and everyone is behind it. First time I (and probably a lot of us) have started to feel optimistic about the future. That's huge.

He got a tune out of bergwijn, and dare I say it Doherty tonight. Against Liverpool, he did it with winks and dele.

He's simply an elite coach.

Also, I saw a stat in game where spurs have gone from being 20th, in running stats to 1st under Conte
I think it's easy to forget that a lot of these players were highly rated/talented players at one point in time. It's almost like every things that's happened in the last 2-3 years can be written off for most of these players.

We all knew coaching had been a massive issue but we're all seeing the proof of that right now. Damn near every player looks a significant step above from what they've shown under Mourinho/Nuno.

The truth is that the players aren't as bad or as good as some people would have you believe.

It seems that we've had at least two years of poor coaching, and when you combine that with our poor transfer activity and turmoil off the pitch, it's no wonder it felt the heart of the club had been lost.

Now they're getting proper coaching we'll get the best out of them. For some players, that best still won't be good enough, and they'll need replacing. A few will probably crumple entirely under Conte's exacting standards of what it takes to be a winner. For others they'll prove they have a future here.

Every time when I see posts of Conte's pre/post match interviews, I still couldn't believe we actually have him as our coach.

Really hope this is a long dream.. A sweet one especially.

I was thinking similar whilst watching the highlights on YouTube just now. I was totally on the 'these players aren't good enough' bandwagon and certainly there will be players that he will want to move on BUT clearly almost all the players had an extra level in them that they are only now just discovering after a couple of seasons or more of mediocrity.

It's not just that we feel optimistic, but it's how SUDDENLY we feel optimistic. I have to admit, in my 12 years of rabidly supporting Spurs (I know, I'm a noob), I haven't felt as despondent as I did under Nuno. And I WANTED to like him!

But seriously, the 180 we have seen with a) results, b) the squad's performance as a whole, and c) *individual* performances from former outcasts -- well, it's quite miraculous.

All those folks who said SELL THE WHOLE SQUAD, NO MANAGER ON EARTH CAN MAKE THEM WINNERS must really be confused right now.

It was defined at the start of the tournament. You can't change midway it's an unfair advantage
If they did, how would they choose who gets home advantage? On paper the team drawn out first, but in reality I think you want the home leg second as you know what’s needed in front of your own fans and say I’d say us and Liverpool have the advantage in the current scenario.

The guy is an absolute magician but let’s not pretend these players haven’t repeatedly let managers down before and will do it again at the drop of a hat. A good 90 minutes from a couple of them isn’t going to change a lot of peoples minds and quite rightly. We need consistent performances from Bergwijn, Dele, Doherty and winks before they get a reprieve. Similarly if we can improve on them in the transfer market, we should. We can’t keep standing still just because a few players have decided to earn their corn all of a sudden after years of not feeling like it.

Give Conte the tools he needs. We can’t just let him make do or else we won’t get anywhere.

He didn't put Royal on because Doherty was 'bad' - Conte has a history of subbing his wing backs towards to the end of matches because they are expected to do so much running.

It's okay to say Doherty had a decent performance, even if you have written him off in the past.

This is just what happens now, manager makes a sub and people on this forum have to fill in the blanks.

Ndombele subbed for Skipp. Has to be that Ndombele can't handle 90 minutes and questions over fitness, can't be a tactical decision based on Liverpool changing to a 424. Doherty subbed for Emerson. Can't be that despite Doherty having a good game that some fresh legs might get us over the line or perhaps that Emerson has shown he's good defensively which may be advantageous when you're grinding out a win. No Doherty has to be bad.

Conjecture being accepted as fact on this forum when it comes to decision making on subs is rife on here.

Milan Škriniar on #thfc head coach Antonio Conte: "Conte sat me down and explained movements to me, using videos as well. He hammers his players constantly, drilling this winning mentality into them. We ended up absorbing it even if trying to resist!" [Corriere della Sera]
