Were they; they didn't create one clear chance (not counting the goal as that was created by us)

I felt they were yeah. I mean the fact that Hugo was MoTM or up there for it kinda signals that.

We were intense and energetic which I liked but felt second half apart from that one chance for Son, they dominated possession and threatened. We defended well but for me it wasnt that great but thats just my view.

He got a tune out of bergwijn, and dare I say it Doherty tonight. Against Liverpool, he did it with winks and dele.

He's simply an elite coach.

Also, I saw a stat in game where spurs have gone from being 20th, in running stats to 1st under Conte
Agreed mostly, but Doherty was still bad, not as bad as usual but the weakest link. Conte saw it and put Royal on.

We’re a better side than we were two weeks ago, and we’ll be a better side in two weeks when we play them.

Yeah it does seem like Dier has slimmed down a wee bit. Could just be the photos or the fit of the shirt but looks like there's a difference between him under Jose and under Conte/Nuno:

Jose:

Conte/Nuno:

At some point in the late Poch/early Jose era Dier massively bulked up and I think this is why he lost a lot of his agility and mobility. Glad to see him looking a bit more lithe.

Isn't both pics from the same game?

Are you joking. Lloris had to pull off some worldies tonight. To the eye we did look in control compared to years gone by but they had plenty of chances

How very dare you! Not denigrating Lloris's performance ( which was excellent) not one of those saves were from clear cut chances; lots of looping headers and deflections resulting in saves.

Struggling to think of a manager that’s had a bigger impact at Spurs for mood and optimism within 6 weeks. With every game I’m believing this is real. To go from being so completely dead and flat 2 months ago to now is mad.

Can understand the anxiety over him not sticking around at any club for very long, but there is some small hope that it might at least be a little different with us. Every other team he's led to big titles he's taken on a fallen giant that hasn't won a league for 2-6 years or whatever. This is a different situation, and he has spoken of it as such. We haven't won a league in a generation. And he's spoken of wanting to essentially challenge himself with coming to this club and leading them to something. For him, I don't think that means a cup, though I'm sure that it would be nice. His cup record is nothing compared to his league achievements. Leagues are what he wants, and ultimately that's what matters to him, and to all of us.

I don't see any outcome for Antonio Conte that is not a failure for him if given the resources that he can't have a proper tilt at a league title before he leaves this club. He has been very plain in his interviews about what he wants to achieve here, and why he came to us. He could have gone to anyone really given his stature, but he has spoken about the challenge it is for him here and that he is not scared of it. I do hope it's the real deal, because he certainly is in himself.

Doing an absolute 10/10 job so far.

Feel like they'll be bumps in the road, probably over the next 3 weeks but BACK THIS MAN

Being acutely aware of new manager bounce, I'm actually a bit shocked at the improvements Conte has brought. It's far more than new coach syndrome. Patterns of play, discipline in shape, chances created and obvious respect from the players. I didn't like the sitting back today in the 2nd half, we've seen that far too often under the last 2. But I don't think it was what conte necessarily wanted. West ham just went for it and our just players couldn't find a route out. Something to work on.

Its still very early on, and there will be blips here and there. But the guys drive and professionalism is another level.

He still needs to be backed, as no matter how much he improves the current playing squad, it's not a title challenging one. But I think 99% of us thought it needed some major surgery and a massive overhaul.

I'm now thinking he won't need to be so drastic. Let's see. Exciting times.

Conte and Klopp both want a one leg semi final. This is one of the things that will apparently be discussed when the managers meet the PL tomorrow. Hope they don’t change it cos I don’t fancy our chances in a one off away match at Chelsea even though Klopp said he’s happy to play theirs at Arsenal. (BBC)

Edit: I read this on the BBC site, I’m not suggesting either Conte or Klopp have a ‘BBC’….

Doherty lasted about 80 minutes, not sure I’d say he was the weak link. Looked absolutely spent but could be fitness/COVID-related, but that’s just speculation.

Thought he had a good game personally. Baby steps...

Doherty wasn't bad at all. He wasn't the weakest link whatsoever. He was aggressive in his defending, got up the pitch and offered an option on the right. Some people just won't accept certain players having a good game it seems. But that's for the match and Doherty threads.

What’s great is that he has improved almost every player and everyone seems bought into it. The players can see the difference it is making so should try even harder. The ones not quite integrated yet (and maybe never will be) are NDombele, Lo Celso and Rodon. The next few games will be very telling for these three.

We have had an issue with getting out of attacking pressure for a while, we just don’t seem able to cope with it when teams really come at us. Hopefully this is something Conte can see, and knows what needs to be done to rectify.
