we miss Emerson Royal

He has intangible qualites that we miss when he isn't there.
Do feel he can be a very good sub when looking to see out the game. Awkward to be up against, pretty good in the air and also knows how to use his body to win fouls.

Before Veliz got injured Ange was bringing him on towards the end of games and I thought at the time he was solid enough to hold up the ball which is necessary in these situations an out so it doesn't come straight back to us and we see out games. I can't help thinking that is something we are missing at the moment and one way or another we've got to deal with it.

Main problem today, apart from bentancur being well off his best was the anonymity of out wide forwards. Both Johnson and Werner did absolutely nothing and that just isn't good enough. You need players who will run at the opposition and strike fear, turn them towards their own goal, but they both put in pretty gutless performances.

Gutted. Feels like a loss. But. I'm confident we are going to get better as the season wears on. We have players with long term injuries returning or have just returned, and it's going to take a few games to get to match fitness, and to find the connection we had for the first 10 games. Unlike previous Spurs teams, I see hope, even when we're not at our best.

Very disappointed, not so much with the performance but for letting them back in when we should be able to see the game out with a few minutes left. We seem to have been practicing coughing up possession because we were really good at it today.
Just on the bus on the way back to Liverpool City centre, and yes I don't think we deserved to win the game. In both the first and second half we were guilty of giving the ball away far too often, and that led to the free kick being given which led to their equaliser. An opportunity for 3 points spurned there as I felt if we'd had stepped it up a bit more a 3rd would have killed them off.

Great 2nd for the Richy goal, had to stay quiet for it as I was in the Gwladys St Upper stand everyone around except me and my other half going absolutely mental with that equaliser and it was a bitter pill to swallow but if I'm being impartial without my Spurs glasses on they didn't deserve to lose.

Everton are a mid table side with an explicitly defence oriented coach.

How many more goals have we scored than them?
From set pieces which is entirely their offensive game, they are also in the fight of their lives and it showed.

Not my point.

If you want to compete with the best teams in this country, you have to concede substantially less goals.

The problem is, once the opposition scores once that mental barrier no longer exists and they feel they can score more. That's what happened today. They scored one and then played with belief. We are constantly under pressure.

Got what we deserved. We failed to kill them off and did Richarlson get one decent ball in the second half. Poor chap deserved a hat trick but we didn't give him the service he needed.

As mentioned I think other teams are working out our frailties and a team like Everton it plays right to their strengths. Lump it in the box and heads they win, it's not pretty but damn it's effective. As soon as saw 7 mins added it was going to be them that would end up with a grab at the death and it was probably deserved.
Yup, this could be part of the reason we did so well 1st 10 games. Other teams needed to learn how to counteract Ange footy. They are better now at it imo. We also need a closing out mode.

Every successful team has a killing off/shutting down style they can use. Our previous 2 victories were by one goal and each time there was an open goal opportunity in the last 5 mins for the opposition. Yes, they missed, but this poor late game management has to be rectified imo.

Yes, its a shock to see Bents so lacklustre without any spark.

This is nothing like his comeback from the long layoff.

Particularly gutted about this one having led twice and Everton being in such poor form. Subs were poor and we allowed them to kick us into a scrappy game. Bet that doesn't happen to Citeh next week

On the plus side I suppose Everton were due a result and had one day extra rest in a quick turnaround and we have 2 players still not fit and 3 still missing. I only hope we get early season Bissouma instead of Nov/Dec as we seem to be incapable of closing the door and keeping the ball and taking advantage of desperation. While there is still time to improve and catch up, I don't know exactly why but it does feel like this is the day that a chance of the title has gone

Edit: and we are not getting any big decisions at the moment and I'm starting to wonder if it's because we don't complain enough!

Yep, a man for the trenches.

Ange made the right calls at HT against Brentford and it paid dividends.

Today he made the wrong calls and tinkered far too much late on which helped conspire a late equaliser for Everton.

Rather than bringing on Dragusin and 3 at the back in which we look hopeless, he really needed to take off Udogie for Davies for better balance and some experienced know how in seeing these tricky away games out.

Game management has been lacking for quite some time.

I remember Ange said he came back way earlier than anticipated. Wonder if that's showing now
Plus his comeback was then interrupted by another injury almost immediately. It's a pity, he was looking like he hadn't missed a beat and then had to recover again.

Not looked as sharp this time. It'll take a while longer I guess.
