Surely VAR has to rescind that red card. It was a yellow not a red. Horrible injury but it was Aurier who broke the guys ankle with a block challenge that was just horribly unfortunate

What an appalling piece of reffing.
Awful for Gomes but how can he justify that?!

Red card for the way he landed? Bad injury but we're just giving out reds out of sympathy now are we ref???

If it was from VAR then surely they can see the challenge wasn't that bad, it was like the ref just saw the aftermath and decided to give a red.

Probably worth taking Aurier off now.

A bad injury but no way thats a red. The force and angle Gomes was falling almost multiplied the force Aurier was going at him.

Poor Son.

So we’re gonna end up drawing / losing this game because VAR lost there head in the moment like the crowd & players

Yes, but it looked like it was the VAR that gave the red. Atkinson showed him a yellow first.
Even more ridiculous if so. The VAR team must've been so shocked by the extent of the injury that the kneejerk reaction was to send him off.

Essentially Son hacked down Gomes from behind and the momemtum took him into Aurier who was challenging from the other side and snapped something on Gomes when he got clattered by Aurier.

cheers. I saw the replay. Never a red card. I’m assuming we can get that over turned.
