A very good performance & a clean-sheet to boot. Who knew we could do clean-sheets?

A fifth-placed finish is not half-bad, considering the doom & gloom that's been going around since March. It may be only one place higher than last season, but an improvement is an improvement. If this is the Poch's worst season as the head-honcho at Tottenham then i can't wait to see what his best season manifests itself as.

Glad to end the season on a high, now i hope the Poch can get rid of the dead-weight that seems to have prohibited our development in recent seasons. Lets get the intelligence right & bring in wise additions that will enable us to be competitive on multiple fronts.

Our season has seen the progress and setbacks that a growing team goes through. After watching the spineless capitulation of Liverpool today i know which of the two sides are heading in the right direction.

Whilst 5th is good, even looking at our last 8 games we should have picked up at least 7 more points. That said, not qualifiers for the EL is a bonus and gives the squad more time for pre-season.

Eh? But we did qualify or the EL! And it looks like 6th place will as well (assuming Arse beat Villa in the FA Cup Final).

I think he meant we don't have to go through the qualifying round of the Europa League, we go straight into the group stage as we finished 5th. Whereas Liverpool will have to go through the qualifying round just to get to the group stage.

We have finished above Liverpool in 5 of the last 6 season now :)

At the end of the season, it's amazing to see just how close we really were to making the Champs League 4th spot. A few more wins against sub standard opposition at home and we would have done it. I hope that Poch can learn to be more flexible with his system and perhaps look to play two up front at home now and again. Bring on next season!

I think key to that is having a 2nd striker to play that can effect the game and do something productive. As much as I like Soldado and would love to see him tear up the league I just don't see it happening and think he will be sold this summer. Ade again did nothing this season to justify getting any game time. I agree with your point so I suppose its on Levy/Poch to go out and get the striker to allow him to do so next year.

Mawspurs is right. Sorry, I'm on my phone with a dodgy dial up connection in Central Asia and need to type messages quickly before Internet goes down again.

No full backs in sight again but it worked this week. How good was Bentelab at LB, really impressive and could threaten Rose...lol.

if we had not had the Europa league for so long and carling cup we might well have made top 4.

I really hope we take the league siroulsy and use the Europa league and cups to bring though our young players, 10-20 cup games could well be the making of Winks, Milos, Omomah, Oduwa (not forgetting prtichard and caroll) rather than loans. we have so much talent in our academy its frightening behind the mentioned players.

I for one am glad that we finished 5th and kept our level of consistency up. We also finished above a club, Liverpool, which conventional wisdom had down as leaving us behind.

And yet, here we are, having had a poor season in most experts views and we still finish in the top five, qualify for Europe and make a final.

The same prevailing wisdom has Arsenal down as having had a great season and yet they are four points below last year's total, but one league position higher. We are five points below last year's total, but one league position higher.

Perception versus reality.

Yeah, manu was there for the taking this year. As you said if we'd won a few games we "should have won" we'd have pipped them to 4th but we are always going to lose games we "should win" and the truth is if we want to be a champion's league club we have to play like one. We have to find a way to grind out a result when we're playing bad, we have to figure out how to breakdown teams who sit deep, we have to minimize losing games we "should win", and hopefully win some games by more than a goal or two.
