If you are a player looking to move of course we are. As are the majority of the premier league purely because of the financial numbers.
Financially yes, however if you want development, then you could argue that ajax is a bit better.

In an ideal world we would be signing both Orban and Nuamah and loan them straight out to a better league to get them playing week in week out. Reality is, considering our needs, that’s never going to happen and as it is it will be a BIG jump for both players. As good as they look, and they do look good, the jump in level will be massive for them, especially for Nuamah, and they both could well struggle at first. No matter how good they look even a move to Ligue 1 say would be a big step up let alone the PL.

Of course there is a chance they come in and just hit the ground running but the reality is they’re more likely to come in and have minimal impact on our upcoming season. This doesn’t mean I don’t want them, both look fantastic, but there is always a risk with this sort move and the players will likely need to time to adjust and develop. Expecting them to just slot straight in and immediately start contributing is extremely optimistic and somewhat unrealistic imo. Maybe they do, you never know, but that pressure should not be put on them.

Really these sort of moves should be in the Sarr/Udogie category and we should be looking to bring in more established players alongside them. Buying Sarr, Udogie and Gil was the most positive moves I’ve seen this club make in a long while. It’s just unfortunate we handled Gil so poorly by letting him rot on the bench for two half seasons in a row instead of just loaning him out for 2 full seasons.

I just remember a lot of posters spanking themselves silly when we were linked with Nkoudou based on a few YouTube videos but I wasn’t convinced at the time and said so. Obviously not every player linked will follow the same trajectory as him but from what I’ve seen I’d be very careful. I’m sure there must be other more established players in their early twenties in better leagues who are in the same price bracket who could have more of an impact. I’m just wary of cluttering up the squad with more players who aren’t going to have an impact on results. We aren’t going to spend £50 million on two players and send them out on loan, it just isn’t realistic.

Am I the only person who's watched all these videos and feels nothing? He looks like a fairly decent Norwegian league player but I don't see anything that suggests he'll make it against the full backs in this league.

So many hard ons in this thread and I can't help but thing it's because you've all signed him on Champ Man or whatever it's called nowadays.
Agree, I'm no talent spotter! But usually in these highlight you see something epic especially for attacking players, I felt like i've missed something. But i've never seen him properly so *shrug*

It does feel like with the kind of fees that Brighton and other smart-scouting teams are getting for their players nowadays, it's no longer feasible for us to wait until promising young players have moved to a smaller Premier League team before we buy them, and that we need to be buying at this earlier stage, with all the risk of development that entails.

On one 'highlight' reel, I saw him fall over a few times and then nearly scuff a tap in from 3 yards.

Wrong, he actually is not very good on Football Manager 23. I am sure he will be a big time wonder kid in 24 though.
The start of your post 😂

I mean he doesn’t look bad but Edwards looks a better player to me?? I suppose he is 19 though and might still grow a bit. He looks like he will be shoved off the ball easily in the Prem. Been more impressed by Doku whenever I’ve seen him.

I've got no idea who Doku is either.

19 is one thing, and if we're now in the business of taking punts for the future then so be it. But for me we have more pressing concerns in THIS window that need to be looked at before we splash £20m on a kid who looks like he'd get blown over by a stong gust of wind.

Even though he's been seriously linked with PSG this summer, he's been the absolute worst player on the pitch in Nordsjællands last 3 games. He was hooked at half-time yesterday in their Conference League qualifier, after a squabble with teammates over who should take a penalty awarded near the end of the 1st half, even though everybody knows their designated taker is not him.

I'm afraid his mentality is not something you'd want in your squad.
Will admit that I haven’t watched all of these games, but seeing as he won both player of the month and young player of the month awards for the league, I doubt this is very true.

He also clearly feels that he is ready to move on as these were his quotes after winning the award:
"Back at it craving new challenges. Asafo boy chasing growth, one challenge at a time. Growth never stops. There's a world of challenges out there. Point me to the starting line. Next chapter, please,"

Very rarely have I ever seen a players performance not drop off a bit when they’re hoping to get a move.

dont normally do the youtube check but out of curiosity i did because i hadnt heard of him before.
Its his awareness of others and weight of pass that impressed me, other than the obvious power when dribbling.

Yes please, especially liked his crossing technique- good body shape over the ball

Would buy a lot of fouls for Maddison the executioner

Agreed, my favourite was the one where he scuffed it to the edge of the 18 box where non of his teammates were.
