Does make you wonder why they didn't go harder for Maddison if they're willing to pay 40m for Barnes, though? Is LW more of a high priority position for them?

If anything, it’s less of a priority! They have so many good players who can play in that position: Isak, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Gordon. There’s also Almiron and Murphy as RWF who can cover. Odd one.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they sell at least ASM. Probably to Saudi for £50m.

Barnes a good signing for them. He will perform well under a decent manager.

Worryingly there was a piece in The Athletic that said they purposely leaked the Barella interest to The Telegraph so they could swoop in for Tonali instead. With the news of Barnes breaking in The Telegraph and news of Chiesa's agent flying to the UK I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up there.

Perfect. He can play both sides too. I loved him before his injury 51m is nothing for a player of his quality surely paratici (in his consulting role) can do something to help.

After getting Solomon we don’t need another LW. I also don’t think his skill set, specifically his poor 1v1 ability is suited to Ange’s system. If we go for another forward it will probably be a left footed RW rather than another LW.
