Short interview with Berbs at the end of the Irish game. Said Bulgaria did well to win and the pitch was "horrific". Very diplomatic when asked about the quality of the opposition - said nothing really - but wished them well for the future.
Did the interviewer resist the temptation to ask something like "Today was the 50th anniversary of the Munich air crash, why haven't you gone to Man Utd yet?"
I really don't understand why everyone seems to be going on about Bentley. All he proved to me was how glad I am we have Lennon instead of him. One paced and second rate in general, I started feeling dozy every time he got the ball.
i didint think bentley was all that, and joe cole only really started after 40 minutes, up until he went off i thought Jenas was having a very good game, and noones mentioned him at all today.
I thought Jenas was great, seemed to give the team extra energy whenever they found him, which unfortunately was not often enough. Gawd knows why Rooney decided to tackle him when Jenas broke forward. He was very good with the ball, messed up that one cross... but hey ho, one error of judgement. Wright seemed to decide that messing up the cross was just about the worst thing that anyone has ever done in an England shirt. But then Wright is a cock...
Have to disagree, Stock - Bentley did have a great first half, showed some real intelligence with the way he played and his movement off the ball i thought.
Jenas was having a really good game but didn't seem to really click with Gerrard and Cole who paired up extremely well again. Jenas was the spare man going forward and did really well.
Joe Cole appeared to stop caring in the second half, when he came off he wasn't really contributing much anyway, but he's so obviously a Chelsea player - part of the machine. He is so persistant and so quick, he's one of my biggest concerns about the cup final.
We were boring, boring England, though Gerrard, Jenas and Bentley played well enough to, i think, retain their places for the time being.
i thought bentley was one of the best players on the field-along with rooney and joe cole..
with beckham not fit, lennon demoted to u21's(lol), i would say the right wing berth is between bentley and swp-and the way bentley performed last night-he should start next game..
i didnt think much of jenas to be honest-yeh he scored a goal, but i didnt think he had best of games-he shouldnt be dropped tho..hes only young-along with bentley and ashley young he is the future for england midfield
Went to the game last night, and my first time at Wembley. The stadium really is excellent, we were on the top tier and the view was awesome, the guys and gals going to the cup final are very lucky :-(.
The game itself was dissapointing. Ashely Cole was absolutly awful, I'm not sure if this was picked on by the BBC, but all his passes were mis-placed and his defending was very poor. A combination of that and him being a cheat was the reason for his boo'ing.
Jenas did well, unfortunatly with Switzerland defending in numbers and playing a 4-5-1, it meant he struggled for space. But out of the three central midfielders, he was the most creative and hard working in my opinion. Bentley did well too, not everything was coming off but he is a very intelligent player, and I think he deserves a run on the right hand side.
The atmosphere was rubbish. I wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first international game, but very dissapointing.
