Think he's a decent player actually, handy in the air against a packed defence, can hold the ball up, strong runner with the ball through the centre, think he would suit our system well, especially surrounded by better players.

Sounds like you're describing Richarlison.

For my money, I think we need someone with a bit more technical ability than both of those.

If we're looking to put a no.9 at the head of this show then I'd rather we wait until the summer and try to do it properly tbh. I don't think we need to be carrying 100m in strikers on the payroll that aren't as good as what we aspire to and who realistically by the end of the season will probably be playing backup to Son and Timo Werner.

He's a more mobile Richarlison, quicker feet, I agree though, I'd love us to get a more technical player if one was available.

It's difficult to accuse Richarlison of being able to hold up the ball or be able to run the ball through the centre, to be honest, though that seems to be a common perception. Been some of his biggest weaknesses thus far that I've seen, frustratingly!

Edit: to be fair to him, the most recent comparison is Harry Kane, so most players will look shit at this next to him. But still I think it's been his biggest weakness to the way we're playing. He loses the ball at a Son level, but you don't want to be asking that of Sonny (unless you're Antonio, apparently). If we're going to be buying someone at all up top they absolutely need to be able to hold the ball and lay it off without trying to instead take someone on and fail and then fall over. If anything Veliz has looked a bit more competent and physical.

Seems we are targeting HG still though. I actually just saw Awoniyi is HG as well. With NFFC FFP issues surprised we're not targeting him as well

I remember the days good players used us to get new contracts, didn't realise we had fallen that far that now bottom half players use us.

Playing near his full potential.

That potential is not quite enough for where we want to be imo.

Solanke really. The guy is the same age as Richarlison and has scored considerably less than him, despite Richy also playing on the wing.

Solanke has 22 goals in 116 Premier League games, average a goal every 5.2 games.

Richarlison has 51 goals in 180 games averaging a goal every 3.5 games.

We all sit here and say Richy isn’t the long term answer, and if that’s the case then Solanke definitely isn’t.
