Firstly, let me just point out, i don't often pay much attention to what the tabloids say about us, especially not the likes of The Mirror and the Daily Mail, however, nevertheless, i noticed this story which states that Darren Bent is really unhappy with the acquisition of Defoe and now definitley wants out of Spurs.

It states that he and Defoe never got on, have had numerous fallouts and he feels as if he'll be a benchwarmer again to 1st choice Defoe.

It could ofcourse just be typical DM bullshit, but i just wanted to get your thoughts on it!
Especially since i know that Harry isn't too keen on our attacking line-up and does want to make changes!

So! Can someone in-the-know confirm whether this is true or not (i hope NOT!!).

I can't really see it being true, as Bent must realise that he'll get a run-out as soon as he's fit again, plus he's our only attacking option in the UEFA Cup - besides, i was really looking forward to seeing Bent and Defoe linking up (i always thought they were quite pally!).

.......soz for the nervy post! Will teach me to read those rags again! lol

Well to be honest if i were Darren id be a tad annoyed, i mean you wait a season, get your chance only for the manager to come in and buy back someone who was here 12 months ago.

Bent is good but there are players better than him, he does score goals tho and is our only UEFA Cup striker.

He has a real tough decision coming up i think!

I think he if doesn't get a great deal of playing time from now til the end of the season he will probably want out in the summer, it will also be something of an indication that he is not high on Rdknapp's pecking order (and he may want to move him out for someone he thinks will be better for the team/squad in the summer)

I can't see him going anywhere now, but it is up to him to show he can fit into our system and score goals from now until the end of the season. If he is not a frequent starter (or atleast player) and scorer then it will probably be best for both the club and his career for him to move on in the summer.

I assume JD and Pav are likely to start as the number one partnership as of now, so Bent will again need to prove his worth and force his way into the team...if he does that he will surely go no where if not probably he will be replaced in the summer (am I repeating myself?!?)

think about the business model!

Buy Bent for 16 million, sell Defoe for 9 million.

wait a year, decide Defoe's better....

Buy Defoe for 15 million, sell Bent for ? It wont be 16 million.

We're still competing in 4 competitions, Bent will be guaranteed every UEFA match should he be fit. Pav, Bent and Defoe taking turns to sit out League and Cup games shouldn't cause a problem, unless of course we want rid of Bent.

I think our strikers will be sorted out in the summer. But we may just stick with the current three we have (minus Campbell), they will just rotate..

Most likely have to wait untill the summer, due to the many cup tied players in UEFA cup, but I can't see how we can go on having both Bent and Defoe at the club. They certainly can't play together, it would make more sense to try and sign someone who can play with either Defoe or Pav.

My first choice would be Amr Zaki who'll be available in the summer (wonder if his current club is interested in Ghaly as part of a deal).

Pavlyuchenko - Defoe - Zaki - Giovani
Would be happy with those options.

Btw Osaze Odemwingie was with Appiah at our Burnley game, maybe a target?

aha! so all we need to do now is sell Bent for £22million and we'll balance the books... sometimes the "business model" which notably included £5m for KPB and £8m for Younes Kaboul...
