Yes - Ferdinand said himself said on Talksport and it's in all that the media that Sherwood is being groomed for a greater role at present - but suppose that could change depending on appointment.

Just to reiterate some chat from the Twitter Thread in the Tranny Forum (seriously, Rob won't let me call it that, which is sooooooo unfair), Windy who follows the youth set-up closely commented that he felt to a degree pleased that Clive Allen had gone as his influence from the touchline was little more than swearing at the kids. He also pointed out that Clive had become very much part of the Redknapp entourage alongside Jordan and Bond, which gave Levy no option, really. Windy is a lovely, lovely bloke and I'd take his opinion and analysis from genuinely match situations ahead of a sentiment that anyone was/is "Spurs through-and-through".

I love Clive as much as the next Yiddo but this is a crucial role and kids need world class tutelage. If Clive didn't deliver that, then I understand why he needed to go. All the best to him, though.

There was some ITK that said if Harry had got the england job he would of taken Les and Clive with him, so maybe that was a factor though I'm sure the same ITK said harry's preparation was non existent during the bad form until Roy got hired

Pleat thought Allen one of the best young coaches around and went out of his way to head hunt him. Jol, Ramos and Redknapp all kept him on, and I would take their opinion before Windy's, who actually talks quite a bit of crap. Clive does get rather impassioned on the touchline, but I am pretty sure there is more to him than shouting. When he managed the rezzies he had them playing some hugely entertaining football, and got results too. But in any case, under Harry he had no involvement with the youth set up, his job was taking first team training sessions.

He was presumably axed because had become too close to Harry, rather than for any reasons of professional competence or because of his corrupting influence on Tottenham's youth.

My understanding is that as tax dodge, Harry was not employed directly by the club. We instead retained the services of a company which employed Harry, but also Kevin and Joe. So when we severed our contract with Twitch Independent Traders Ltd. we presumably parted company not just with Harry, but also Bond and Jordan.

I believe Rosie was the company secretary who negotiated the contract. Kevin never quite understood why he was being paid in dog biscuits but Joe got a lot of wear out of his rubber bone.

I should point out that I would rate the view of this chap here rather highly too. ^^^

Personally I like Windy and think he talks sense, but I'll admit to being very surprised by his analysis of Clive Allen. I'm sure you're right when you suggest his dismissal has more to do with getting close to Team Harry.

Think its much more clear cut than even that.

Clive Allen's sole responsibilities for the last couple of years were to do with the First Team (along with HR, Jordan and Bonds) so assuming the new man was bringing in his own team (as all new managers seem to do), either Clive (and indeed Jordan and Bonds) was going or some new job needed to be created for him/them.
