I know Havertz has only played 2 games for Chelsea but the pundits are already asking the question of why have Chelsea signed him because he doesn’t fit into their system. Havertz is a quality player but he’s similar to Alli in that they’re both luxury players and don’t fit into a 433.

The obvious problem with Alli is that his stock has dropped and his laid back attitude doesn’t fly when he isn’t producing the goods. If someone offers £50m? for him then I would sell him in a heartbeat.

The club is in a very precarious position with Alli in that if they loan him and he continues his form of the last 2 years his stock will be at an all time low. Obviously if it’s a loan only and he does well his stock will rise. I just think given he’s actually so out of form, doesn’t fit into Jose’s tactics, anything in the £50m region and we should sell. The odds of his stock dropping even further are much better than him turning it around.

I don't know where he would fit in? As a second striker in a Simeone setup maybe. His style is difficult to accomodate.

I wonder how badly the Amazon documentary has impacted the way us fans see and think about him? I know from my side he was pretty much the only player who didn’t come across well. There was no in depth conversation ala Tanganga, nothing like Aurier, etc, the focus when it turned to him was always so immature. Even the fight with Dier left him looking like a spoilt brat. I don’t know, it just doesn’t feel like it has done him any favours.

I really like Dele, I do.
BUT...

As others have said, he is too slow to release a ball and isn’t strong enough in a tackle.
I always said he was at his best ghosting in onto CE‘s crosses.

His decline for me runs in parallel with Eriksen’s and as a result of how we now play he doesn’t have a role.

doesn’t mean he can’t adapt, but he needs to pull his socks up and start to do everything with more pace. Pressing, passing, shooting.

I am all for keeping him, but if he left, I would thank him and wish him well.

Now we have Bale I’m not sure we can play 4231 anymore?? A front 3 of sonKane and Bale with Dele playing as a 2nd striker (his best position imo) is way too attacking snd with our defence we would have to score 3 goals to get a result each week which Mourinho isn’t going to do.
Unless Dele can play in a midfield 3 which I not convinced he can I’m not sure where he is going to fit in

All or Nothing has a sequence where Dele talks about how he's literally just learned how to microwave baked beans and how easy it is.

Would never have guessed that about him, seems a cultured kid.

I think the issue with him is ever since we stopped playing 352 he just hasn’t been the same.

He’s never going to be a wide player and he hasn’t got the touch or quickness of feet to play as a ten. His position is a second striker who makes fantastic off the ball runs and is a goal threat. Even in his apparent poor form every time he plays he either scores or has a good chance to score.

As we play 433 now he just doesn’t fit, if he leaves he needs to go somewhere who play 352 or 442 as otherwise he won’t fit there either. To be honest I think 3 years ago when we stopped 3 at the back we should have started coaching him into being an 8. Still though not in a million years would I let him a) leave on loan or b) before we let Lucas, Lamela and Sissoko leave.

I'm a bit concerned that we're letting him go for being poor during a period in which most of our other players have also been poor. Personally I'd prefer to give him this season to get back some form before selling him but it also depends on who we could bring in as a replacement.

Is 24 too old to make a big change in someone’s career or life? I really disagree if you’re saying that, I think Dele needs the kick up the arse.

Of course not, but he has been pretty average for a number of seasons, Jose appears to have gave him that kick and he doesn't seem to have taken the "kick" very well. As Spurs supporters we should of know of wasted talent as over the recent past we have had many, and most in some way have publicly stated they were at fault. Off the top of my head I can give you 4 who wasted a clear talent they had.

You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink.

Poch babied him, the only thing I took from the documentary was Dele's reaction to Jose. To me I think it was clear Dele thought Jose was bantering him, the smirk, the casual way he took it. Were now over 6 months down the line and Jose has lost patience. Of course I want him to do well, but as a fan we need to leave it to the manager to deal with it as he sees fit.

Yeah but none of us know as of yet his reaction.
Yes if he stays and if he makes it back into the team, then from his performances we'll know if this move from Jose has had the intended reaction. Right now we have no idea.

Wonder if he gives a monkeys anymore. England place gone, now club place gone, too much too soon? I'm not seeing any effort to get back on track.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if all of this is one last attempt to get him to finally shape the fuck up and start fulfilling his potential.

It makes sense if Levy is wary about whether Mourinho stays long term...

Might just be me, but Mourinho could have been far more effusive about the signings that Levy has just delivered... instead he appeared grumpy... again.

Next summer will be 18 months in post and history tells us that’s where the wheels start to come off with Mourinho (in the last decade.)

So, why sell Dele in a deflated market when you can loan him and make the decision next summer... when the future will be much clearer.

Of course I hope I’m wrong re. Mourinho, But Levy is a savvy cat and might not want to rue selling Dele further down the line.

This is literally just you projecting your own anti-Mourinho bias onto his words, to be honest

It is an odd one as in the friendlies I thought he looked really hyped up. Even the Everton game I thought he was pressing more than a lot of others, came very close to scoring too. I wonder if he’s kicked off at half time and been subbed and now this.
