Selling him would be a mistake IMO. He needs to mature and fast. His problem is that he hasn’t made the transition from wonderkid to a top class player. He has the attributes but his head isn’t right as many have said. Attitude is all wrong. Sort that and he’s up there.

He is 24.

Signing a new contract doesn’t mean a player won’t move though. It’s just raises his transfer fee.

I cant remember anyone moving the same summer they signed a 5 year contract. He’s also been waxing lyrical about how Villa are his club and his home etc etc.

I'm all for people being sentimental, but, are people actually talking about Dele Alli the player, or Dele Alli the memory? Dele Alli the memory was fantastic. Dele Alli the player doesn't press, can't dribble, can't pass, dithers on the ball, and has only put together about 3 good games in the past calendar year. He seems lost out on the pitch. This is more than just a "his head isn't in the right place" issue.

The more he plays, the more his value tanks. We're better off getting rid as soon as possible.

EDIT: And I mean all of this in the most respectful way possible, given what he's done for the club and the role he's played in its' catapulting to the top of the world stage.

I know Havertz has only played 2 games for Chelsea but the pundits are already asking the question of why have Chelsea signed him because he doesn’t fit into their system. Havertz is a quality player but he’s similar to Alli in that they’re both luxury players and don’t fit into a 433.

The obvious problem with Alli is that his stock has dropped and his laid back attitude doesn’t fly when he isn’t producing the goods. If someone offers £50m? for him then I would sell him in a heartbeat.

The club is in a very precarious position with Alli in that if they loan him and he continues his form of the last 2 years his stock will be at an all time low. Obviously if it’s a loan only and he does well his stock will rise. I just think given he’s actually so out of form, doesn’t fit into Jose’s tactics, anything in the £50m region and we should sell. The odds of his stock dropping even further are much better than him turning it around.

Yes, he’s a local boy but maybe, when, signing his new contract, the club might have agreed to allow him to leave if a top 6 PL came in for him ?‍♂️
Anyway, it’s all conjecture only. We can live in hope ?

I really like Dele, I do.
BUT...

As others have said, he is too slow to release a ball and isn’t strong enough in a tackle.
I always said he was at his best ghosting in onto CE‘s crosses.

His decline for me runs in parallel with Eriksen’s and as a result of how we now play he doesn’t have a role.

doesn’t mean he can’t adapt, but he needs to pull his socks up and start to do everything with more pace. Pressing, passing, shooting.

I am all for keeping him, but if he left, I would thank him and wish him well.

Love Dele but this is fair.

Last 2-3 years it feels like we've just been making excuses for him. In the beginning it was fair but as recent as last season we were saying that he really needs to kick on and be the main man when others are missing.

We are still waiting.

I'm being extra harsh on Dele based on strict 'rumors' he's upset he's been left out of our last two squads. HOWEVER, Jose asked him directly to improve upon his attitude in training, which, in turn, will assist with his performances on the field. We seen that brief transformation...ladies and gentlemen, I present Exhibit A.........(whom Harry Kane models his attitude also).

We all know Dele's ceiling is endless in Lily White....I would love to seem him push on, eh!!

I really thought when he performed like he did against West Ham and the goal away at United shortly after Mourinho took over that we were going to see Dele mature into the player he needed to become to have a future with us.

The way it has since tailed off, I'm really sad to say I just don't see it happening. I think it's best for all parties if he leaves now and if he becomes the superstar he has the talent to be, then so be it because it sure isn't going to happen at Spurs.

Can’t remember the length of the contract or whether he’d signed recently or not, but I recall Fabian Delph moving the week or so after he publicly stated he was staying at Villa.
And I think we did something similar with a player who signed a new contract and moved shortly after.

Totally agree with you though that Grealish is unlikely to move from Villa this summer or this season. Could see him move if Villa got relegated obvs or if huge £ offer (City/Chelsea) came in for him. He’s too comfortable.

So, he has only just learned at 24 ? to cook(reheat) baked beans and he cooks them in the microwave. If that doesn’t scream immaturity I don’t know what does

I have no idea what the fuck your talking about. :ROFLMAO:

I don't understand how it helps us? A transfer makes sense as we use the money to strengthen other areas of the squad. A loan leaves us in limbo.

It makes sense if Levy is wary about whether Mourinho stays long term...

Might just be me, but Mourinho could have been far more effusive about the signings that Levy has just delivered... instead he appeared grumpy... again.

Next summer will be 18 months in post and history tells us that’s where the wheels start to come off with Mourinho (in the last decade.)

So, why sell Dele in a deflated market when you can loan him and make the decision next summer... when the future will be much clearer.

Of course I hope I’m wrong re. Mourinho, But Levy is a savvy cat and might not want to rue selling Dele further down the line.

He hasnt been great recently but to be honest the way we have been playign at times, its been difficult for him. To hoof it long to him is not using him properly.

Id like him in the squad and use him when we are lacking creativity. We cant use the same tactics as today for example when we use him and i think there are times when Jose will alter the team but use the same tactics. Thats why you need a squad of players with different skill sets

It does feel like our most creative players are not being utilised as effectively as they could. Perhaps because Jose is all about transitions and counter attacking.
