We are a mess at the moment and he's been asked to do a job he is not best suited for. Him playing off Kane is where he is at his best - he moves into space and if a defender tracks him it leaves gaps for Kane and son. God knows what his role was tonight - CF?

From what I can tell, he needs two things to be able to showcase his undeniable talent:
1. Kane alongside him. Dele is best when Kane drags defenders short and he has space to run into the box, or supplementing Kane with late runs into the box from crosses.
2. A system that plays a high line, a high press and keeps possession (I.e.peak Poch).

Without the above, he seems to be completely average as he's not technically good enough to keep the ball, and lacks pace / mobility when he has the ball in deeper positions (which is where he is getting the ball in Mourinho's system).

To be fair if Lucas had his eyes up and pulled the ball back Dele scores and the game is done. He got into a beautiful position and Lucas went for glory on a tight angle.
Should have been the match winner tonight. Having said that did naff all for the game, but one moment can change a game.

Unfortunately for us, no tactics can be deployed because we have both Alli and Lucas who seem totally incapable of just controlling the ball and keeping it moving. I don’t understand how we have, for the last 14 months, become a team full of players who struggle to simply control it.

Every single time the ball goes into these guys they lose it or hoof it upfield. It puts an enormous strain on our already fragile defence and our midfielders end up doing doggies up and down the pitch ultimately tiring them out.

I watched a Norwich team last night just play 5 yard balls to each other, yet every time we tried that it went to someone who tried to flick it, or start running with the ball before they even have it. Alli and Lucas were two of these players and have been for a while. They both need to improve massively as they are not even doing the basics correctly, and that is not down to management.

Farke of Norwich isn’t the reason his players can simply control a ball, they do it because they are professional footballers and it should be a given.

Totally agree, having Dele and Moura on the pitch at the same time is simply a disaster. you can live with one of these two but having two players who basically can’t hold retain the ball or move it means we cant control possession, maintain pressure or relieve pressure.

I don’t think he was that bad last night. Higher up the flicks and tricks are less dangerous for us if they don’t come off. However is is just a makeshift but probably our best one.

Well there we have him as our striker, that went well..

No words left for the guy. Rubbish once again.

Parrot's hold up play and work rate was far superior.
Parrott did absolutely nothing when he came on against players who were blowing out of their arses? I’m not even criticising Parrott but how the fuck can you say he did more than Dele??

I said his hold up play and work rate, leading the line with the press.

Dele obviously didn't lead the line in pressing yesterday at all. That first half must have been someone else out there.

But still cause us to needlessly lose possession regardless of where it is on the pitch.

You put a player who's strength is running into spaces as Martin Peters used to but play him up front with his back to goal is a disaster waiting to happen and to then slam the player for playing badly is disgraceful.
Dele ghosting into positions is playing to his strength for gods sake give the bloke a chance .
If you want to pick out someone rewatch the game and you will see that the player that's a liability is Moura in this game alone if he had a real football brain he could have laid on sitters for Dele and Lamela .
Running about a lot is not enough for me I admire his effort but effort without production is just a waste of energy .
This football brain that Moura does not have is and has cost us quite a few goals over the course .
But I suppose the " he is the only one that's trying " view will win out . not for me .

It still is but Jose will play him anyway, rather here than deeper where he will be more detrimental to us. I’d rather have him dropped.

Was he supported? Did we play to his strengths? Was our tactics progressive.

Another ridiculous post.
