Liked what I saw in preseason, but it is obvious that he isn't going to make it. Best of luck kid!!

isnt the reason he's not playing down to the fact that he refuses to sign a new contract? something about club policy not giving minutes to youth players who dont want to commit to the club because it takes up space another youth player who WOULD commit to the club could use. if he decides he doesnt want to be here best of luck to him. he has talent.

I think it was originally suggested that he didn't want to sign a new contract if it meant being farmed out on loan yet again (which by all accounts was what the club had planned for him). I cant blame him to be honest, for a lot of players they must just feel like they are in limbo getting sent from club to club and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't feel a part of this club... Evidenced by the quotes in the article where he says 'they' constantly.

It's a case of "chicken and egg."

Considering the fact Poch had all preseason with him, has moved aside very expensive talent for other youth players to come through, had Ceballos available for positions we weren't as consistent at, yet still did not select him says to me that he simply was not rated highly enough by the coaching staff -> didn't play -> refused contract. As far as I know, he was seeing plenty of time with the U-21's this fall, and then suddenly he stopped being played in light of the news about his contract.

I'd be inclined to believe it was due to the contract if he wasn't being played by anyone since the beginning, but all the evidence above leads me to believe he simply wasn't rated highly before the issue with the contract extension became an adherence to his playing time.

We could if we can sell him even for a little. Regardless, we could get his wages off the books if he departs on loan.

He's come through the academy - he's probably on about £200 a week. It's more about his development than saving us anything.

Oh I'm sure (but I suspect he's on more than that at his age), but I mentioned it as more of a bonus rather than the actual reason, especially since as I said above I don't believe the coaches rate him.

Talented player but I don't think he has the quality required to make it here, but best of luck to the kid, will do a great job for a championship team!!

I know FM means absolutely nothing, but FWIW, he's on about £1.5k per week in the game, i believe.

Yeah whatever it is it certainly isn't much, but again it's just the bonus. If he's not playing anyway (even for the U-21's), and we can't sell him, we might as well not pay anything for a player we don't intent to use (erego a loan).

I'm more interested in seeing where he ends up as opposed to what he could offer the club at the moment. I think he's a decent player, but I don't view him as one that could actually improve us and it'll be interesting to see how he's viewed outside of our club (more specifically, what level of club will be after him) once he is eventually sold.

You may be right that the coaches did not rate him, but their rating can be wrong sometimes. There is player in the team or around the first team that occupies the same position as him, I think he is better than technically and tactically for a start. It is only an opinion, not a statement of fact.

Of course, we're all fallible humans :) I just happen to agree with the current coaching staff on this regard.
