Could this be our Defensive Midfield solution??

I can only talk about what i think a DM should play like (so i'm not speaking for everyone here).
Basically when i think of a DM, i think the obvious, Keane, Viera, Gattusso, Makalele, Davids etc, someone who can control the central area, hassle the opposition into making mistakes, ultimately making them lose the ball, someone who can cover the defence AND play the ball easily to the more attacking line, but essentially someone that can WIN the ball.

Hi EZ - I think a lot of people think of DM like that - but Veloso didn't look that type of player

Carrick fulfills some of the classic criteria but not others

The talk of having a DM was to protect our very poor goal keeper from last season. That problem has been resolved with the arrival of H Gomes.

Our midfield now is one of our strongest points and even against Chelski with the likes of Essien Lampard etc we matched Chelski in that department... not many teams will dominate us in midfield with the quality of players we now have there... I'm personally looking forward to the midfield challenge of Scholes (utd) and Fabregas (scum).

Surely we have to press the ball as a team outside the area. Dont like all the stick that Daws gets, we'll ruin him like the 'fans' ruin England.

I like the idea of signing Appiah, simply because he's a hardass and he's on a free. Wages might be an issue as he was trying to get a move back to Juve the other week. But if we can get him we should.
