Rabiot has looked excellent this season to be fair to him. Finally looking like he’s making good on his potential. But we don’t need him in any way. Would be a very odd signing.

Starting to wonder if maybe Conte doesn't like Bissouma very much?

Or maybe wants to play more 3 man midfield?

*Knocks on editors door*

“Boss, we’ve got a gap on page 68… shall I just Chuck in a stock Rabiot > Spurs story to fill it?”

“….is Leandro Damiao still a thing?”

“not anymore boss he retired in 1786”

“Yeah whack Rabiot on there, say something about his mum”

If he goes to Goons or Newcastle, they are improved considerably in the middle. We must stop them! ?

Pretty sure Gary Jacob is the one who broke Bissouma. He’s no bullshitter.

Unless they’re planning on loaning out Skipp to get regular starts for the rest of season it makes very little sense. With Kulusevski fit the amount of times we play 3 in CM will be reduced and even so we already have 4 CMs of a very similar ilk to Rabiot. If the plan was to have Bentancur as a more advanced midfielder you’d simply put in Bissouma or Skipp. If the link is legit I don’t get it, and considering we hardly have much money and desperately need a RWB and a Kulu backup it seems a bit wasteful.

I remember us being linked with him during 2015 January transfer window. Its ridiculous how much I personally, the club and the whole freaking world changed after that. Damn 8 years..

I'd really hope to sign players with more technical ability. Way too much pressure on our front line to create as it stands, and with Son struggling the last thing we need is a midfielder with Rabiot's limitations.

Alright, I’m in. We need more quality on the ball in midfield.
It's just not a priority position to fill IMO. We have Bentancur who is class on the ball and Bissouma is very good on the ball also, we just haven't seen his Brighton form yet. Hojbjerg is decent enough on the ball also so we have 3 options there for 2 positions but I do agree we need to bring a 4th option in before next season.

But defence is where we need significant investment. Udogie will more than likely come straight in at LWB but we need 2 x CBs and 1 x RWB. It is an absolute must that we bring 2 defenders in this Jan if we want to finish top 4.

It's frustrating because we have plenty of cash available to spend, it just depends which way the club want to go. We've been here so many times before, let's just pray this time we make the right decisions.

All depends on the system we intend to carry on using. Two CM system (343) we currently seem set on, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Bissouma and Skipp is more than enough, but I’m still of the opinion forward areas is where we need to add. Yes, Kane, Son and Kulu are quality, Richarlison too, but if we are playing 3 up, then 4 options simply isn’t enough. Moura seems permanently injured lately, and I’m reality is a step down from the others, albeit you can’t help but like him due to his passion and effort.

This. We urgently need new defenders. Dier, Davies, Sanchez and Tanganga are all below the quality needed for us to finish top 4 this season. RWB - we might as well be playing with 10 players sometimes.

There are plenty of quality CBs out there right now, with Skrinniar, De Vrij and Ndicka all being on the last 6 months of their deals, to name but a few.

So getting in at least 1 quality CB and 1 quality RWB is a minimum for this window IMO. I would also say that we need a forward option too, as Son is very out of form and Deki has no cover / rotation. In fact we don't have proper cover for either Son or Deki, so we really need a wide player that can cover for at least one of them.

If we can get these 3 signings done in Jan then we're in a good spot and have enough to finish top 4 again IMO. The rest of the work can then be done in the summer.

Exactly.
Get one of skrinniar, de vreij or ndicka. One of those should be doable. (and yeah, I'd love to put gvardiol at front of the list. Not heppening.)
Overpay slightly for porro (using/relinquishing Edwards sell on if need be so they can over inflate the accounting figures)
Would I like rabiot? Yeah. But just can't be our priority.

This is plain to see really. Without an upgrade at the back we haven't got a hope of top 4. In Jan we need to get a good option in the central role then for 4th there might be enough providing Romero and Lenglet stay fit alongside them.

In order of priority for me;

1 x CB (second can be addressed in summer)
1 x RWB
1 x AM
1 x RFWD
1 x CM

Because the CB is such an important position, If honestly go big there and wait for some of the other positions later.

I'm happy with Lenglet but I think by bringing in a loan player or cheap option you're not showing intent. You're just treading water.

Go big at CB and you'll see rewards for years

CB is absolutely top priority. I would happily see Rabiot join if we have already signed a CB and RWB before he steps through the door.
