In order of priority for me;
1 x CB (second can be addressed in summer)
1 x RWB
1 x AM
1 x RFWD
1 x CM

Because the CB is such an important position, If honestly go big there and wait for some of the other positions later.

I'm happy with Lenglet but I think by bringing in a loan player or cheap option you're not showing intent. You're just treading water.

Go big at CB and you'll see rewards for years
Who would you like to see brought in for each of these positions?

Gvardiol at CB
Porro at RWB
Maddison at AM
Not sure about the rest.

But that would be 3 major major upgrades and game-changers in those positions.

I understand that Gvardiol is a pipe dream but he's also a player worth every penny and 'to dare is to do'. He fits the profile of young with a lot of upside to it.

Spend big on a major position and you don't need to spend again for several years.

I think you could go for Skriniar over Gvardiol and it be realistic and probably get the same impact in the short-medium term. Agree Gvardiol would be the ideal option, but can't see any way we could do that deal.

So Romero, Lenglet, Gvardiol back 3? From a footballing standpoint that would be fantastic, just lacking a bit of height but meh I’d still love to see it. I agree on Porro and Maddison too. Gvardiol is a bit of a pipe dream though I have to say. I think a slight step lower in profile like Pau Torres, Bastoni, Sule etc would maybe be doable though, I agree it’s the absolute must do of this window. I hesitate to say Skriniar too but I’d be shocked if bigger fish aren’t circling for him

Yeah, I agree. It's that level of class I am looking at though. A real game-changer, a player who improves the level of the unit.

Although, I think Skriniar may suit the RCB role better. But I honestly believe signing a big CB and RWB, along with Romero and Udogie make that entire back 5 completely solid and stable for a fair few years.

The foundation kinda looks after itself.

Yeah, something like that. Certainly, he's a pipe dream but we have Conte, we have the facilities, we managed to sign Romero (widely touted/rated), we have the money......we just don't have the ambition to pull it off.

I think he could be convinced to join but he won't be if you lack the ambition to do it.

I think the hype around Gvardiol is just slightly out of our current reality if I’m honest about my instinct on that one. There are definitely other CB’s out there that could have a similar impact, if not for as long, like Torres, Bastoni, Sule, Skriniar. We 100% need to be targeting a CB of this kind of level now, there can be no fucking about on this, our defence has been a mess this season and it’s time to sort it.

Of the 4 more realistic ones I mentioned I’d most like to see Sule or Skriniar as you know exactly what you are getting and that’s elite, aggressive, no nonsense, intimidating defenders

Sule would be my first choice.

Same I think he’d be absolute perfect for the CCB role and Dortmund can be dealt with fairly comfortably. He went there on a free too, so I wouldn’t imagine they would be too upset if the fee wasn’t ridiculous

Rabiot makes a lot more sense than Kessie. I think in Rabiot you have a midfielder that can function in any number of roles in Conte's systems, be it as part of a two or three. He would probably displace Hojbjerg in the starting XI, which whilst harsh would really give us depth. Not sure what that would mean for Skipp though who desperately needs minutes to continue what was a very positive development spell last season. It would definitely mean we could get Sarr out for a loan.

Rabiot please no no no. A show pony with an attitude and mother issues. Just what we don’t need
