South American refs might be more brain dead than MLS refs. A WEAK first yellow last match to Yedlin, a straight red to Jermaine Jones this match for absolutely nothing after Antonio Valencia went in hard on a challange to Bedoya. Then while Jones is STILL on the field, the ref re-starts play and immediately gives Bobby Wood a yellow for a challange which suspends him for the next match(if the US holds on). I think CONMEBOL is clapping back at the US for shutting down their corruption ring at this point.

It's infuriating but it's been bad for years now.

Apparently, chucking the ball at someones groin so they can throw the ball in is not even worthy of a yellow.

There is a Teddy Roosevelt look alike(guys a Spurs fan I believe) and a Douglas Macarthur look alike at the game. Amazing.

Guess you didn't see Jones' punch to Valencia then

And both yellows to Yedlin last match were deserved. That kid is stupid as fuck. Reminds me of Andros

The south american referees are actually much better than the ones in europe (don't know about MLS).

And it would be the first time in history that referees go against the home nation. You are being paranoid

I'm really not buying that as a "punch" at all. Even the most epicly bad punch would have looked more threatening than what Jones offered.

I won't disagree on Yedlin, that shit was so dumb.

And as a whole, when watching CONMEBOL and MLS matches, the refereeing is generally terrible. It's just become part of the game, really.

If Jones' "punch" is considered a punch by people, im done with life. Christ almighty. In what world does anyone call that a punch? Im so sick of the pussification of this planet.

Also, you know who else is stupid as fuck? Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele who got themselves banned for the last 3 matches last season, plus the first 3 of this season for Dembele. But actually, they arent stupid. Just made stupid decisions. Same with Yedlin, who actually doesnt have a history of that kind of play.

Thats a bit too harsh.

The first yellow was from Yedlin being aggressive. The second yellow was a poor play, given he was on a yellow. Yedlin does not have a history of picking up cards - 2 in 25 appearances with Sunderland, and no red cards. So, no reason to call him out like that. I get that you don't like him, but let's keep the personal insults out of the discussion.

That was an attempted punch and somewhat an actual punch. A very very very shitty vagina-ful punch.

The US lineup against Argentina is going to be so pitiful. The only saving grace is that Bedoya can't play (praise thy Lord!).

I now have wet dreams of a Cameron Carter Vickers/John Brooks partnership in Moscow in 2 years by the way. If CCV even turns out half as good as his potential, that partnership will be incredible IMO. CCV's potential is sky high and Brooks has really become a very good CB at Hertha this season and has been utterly dominant this tournament. Being that he's still only 23, he's only going to get better

Also, I want to face England. I need an England friendly series more than I need air. 1 friendly a year. Alternating between Wembley and Seattle or Columbus every year. Needs to happen.

Well, well. Maybe not so bad now after all. US Soccer filed an appeal on Jones's red and Wood's yellow. Wood's yellow was obviosuly a card but the problem is it never should have happened because the ref was an incompetent idiot and re started the game before Jones had gotten off the pitch.

Lamela came on in the 67th and scored in the 71st, apparently with a large slice of shoddy goalkeeping. Sounds like he impressed again, anyway.

Chile has slaughtered Mexico tonight. Curious to see if the US can keep it competitive with Argentina.
