I can't see Poch wanting to sell him, kinda player he likes.

I suppose this is one of two things, Ange likes him a lot and that's all it is, or Ange likes him and there is some interest from Chelsea's side to sell him.
I'd imagine Chelsea would sell if it funded Caicedo or another more technical player.

He had a fantastic season at Palace. He also bossed us around in last season’s thrashing at Selhurst. If we were signing him last summer I think the opinions on here would be much different. I’d like to see us land him for a reasonable fee (£50mm seems very wide of the mark..)

I wouldn’t base Gallagher solely off a clearly dysfunctional season at Chelsea (for the whole squad). He does have the skillset to make him a good player as an 8 in Ange’s system. Think he could be one of the data-driven signings the media has suggested we are looking to complete

Poch go-to shape is 4-2-3-1 and he isn't a good fit for that though. I reckon he'll sign a couple of physical DMs and play Nkunku as a 10 in front of them. Gallacher isn't suited to either of those roles.

"in the squad"

We have a massive squad as is. If we are replacing players that haven't even been at the club from a playing sense we still have a massively bloated squad. I take on board the fact he is HG and so doesn't count in the same way but without Europe game time just won't be available. If he comes in it won't be as a replacement for GLC it will be at the expense of someone else.
You say game time won’t be available, but there are 5 subs these days - wouldn’t that change things? Especially with potential for injuries…

It’s just less games, won’t be playing twice a week all season, so less games.

Another key thing is he’s a fucking immense athlete. Energy is great but when you pair it with someone that can cover the ground quickly, often and has agility too it becomes a total nightmare to play against. He actually quite reminds me of a young Jordan Henderson who I’ve thought for a very long time a lot of people underrate. A player that’s good at most things and has elite athleticism is a bloody great asset to have
what we call in American sports a "Glue Guy". Not spectacular at anything but does his job super well. Great locker room presence and the team tends to struggle without them

yeah PEH is the definition of a glue guy. Runs a lot, does a lot well, not exceptional, good leader but not captain, rarely injured. stuff like that. A great glue guy in soccer are Henderson, John Stones, Brozovic, Matuidi back in his PSG days Every club has one.

Players we could buy for 25m or 30m who are better

Amrabat
Gabriel Veiga
Alex Scott
Hatate
Carlos Alcaraz (Southampton)
And a dozen more

Alcaraz is the one I’d want. Veiga would also be incredible. Fernandez at Boca is another.

I’d love getting him just to take a really talented young player off of Chelsea that would seemingly be great for our new system.

I think it would just be exciting signing a good player off of a rival, dunno if others would feel the same but I would be smirking so hard

I think they probably want him out so doesn't have the same vibe. Colwill would feel good though. They clearly want to keep him and he seems to want out.

I think Gallagher has good potential and would benefit from a manager like Ange.

Let's see how it plays out.

We need a new English spine in the squad. If we start our rebuild with Maddison and Gallagher i wouldn't mind that it.

An option if Kane goes would be to play Maddison to the left and have Son up top.

More like Solomon left, Son up top and Maddison and Gallagher as the 8’s, Kulu on the right.

I suspect chelsea would like to move him on to help with FFP in this financial year. Being home grown his sale all goes in as pure profit. Means they’ll want as much as they can get for him rather than just being desperate to sell. I doubt it will be one that gets done quickly if it happens, but I’m usually wrong.
