Concern for Gazza..

He was a hero for me as a child. On the pitch he was amongst the very greats. He was so unpredictable. I think it was a WC qualifier in 1990 against Yugoslavia where he won the game on his own. And a friendly against Northern Ireland where he scored a penalty from a step over. In the FA cup against Arsenal where he put one free kick in one top corner and another in the other past Seaman. Other teams fans never appreciated how good he was just the antics that were never far behind. It is so sad what he is doing to himself.

Without a doubt we wouldn't have won the cup without Gazza. He was fantastic in that match and also single handedly dragged us through the previous round away at Pompey.
He did and he had a hernia didn't he during that run?

So what if he has 5 tattoos in 5 days? He has a long way to catch up to Beckham.
He doesn't look too bad in the picture on The Sun front page. I'm not joining The Sun for 'free' to look at more pictures of Gazza.

I'm an alcoholic, when you're in the grip of it you need a drink like you need oxygen.

There's plenty of time for him if he get's his arse into AA, its saved millions of lives and does work. AA was always the last place I wanted to go, I tried counselling, acupunture, lighter drinks than vodka all the way down to shandies and Kalibers, rehabs, and all kinds of different services but you have to go to AA if you're to have any hope of staying sober.

Wish him all the best, its often the most gifted (ahem) people that are the most troubled.

Looks like a man of 80 not 47

Shocking state he is in and I just don't see him having the willpower to turn it around, only possibility is if he is sectioned

But others don't help too, off licences should be refusing to serve him, landlords should not serve him, supermarkets should refuse to serve him, mates should refuse to buy him drinks

I'm pretty sure it is him. Several reports of him being taken to hospital in an ambulance as well as the photo.

even in his early days with Spurs when he was put up in a hotel till he bought his gaff in Broxbourne he has been a drinker. the 1st time i ever saw him in real life was when i had a fare from the swallow hotel, he walked past me in the lobby holding a bottle of Brandy/whisky.

it is a great shame he has over a length of time been a heavy drinker, cause he had so much talent as a footballer just like George Best

You've only got to read his book to realise that he was a very troubled person from an early age.

Breaks my heart to see it as he was my footballing hero as a kid, everything I did was as part of 'Gazzamania', but pretty obvious he is now beyond any kind of help.

Just on the BBC News that he is, indeed, in hospital after being found slumped on his doorstep with a carrier bag full of booze. He is also about to be evicted from his house in Dorset.

Another picture of him was shown and there's no doubt it's him in the picture posted earlier as it was very similar.

This could well be his rock bottom, but they will bring him around again no doubt and he won't seek the help he so desperately needs to turn his life around. He simply doesn't want real recovery enough. He cries out for help without realising that he has to help himself because no-one else can do it for him.

It has to be only a matter of time now for him and, sadly, I think that's running out fast.

When the red tops start circling troubled waters.....
We see it happen time and time again... from Fatty Arbuckle to Robin Williams. Local lad does good, get's thrust into global superstardom, unable to handle it, hits the bottle/needle/whatever to cope, ends up ruined by it. It's devastating, because it's all because these people, as soon as they get some fame, are jumped all over by these marketing/media vultures who all want a piece of them. And as soon as the fame dips, they're left to rot.

Left to rot, until there is a genuine issue, then the 'media vultures' start circling in the apparent hope of being able to report dreadful news. Alcoholism is so destructive to the person and those around them. One can only hope gazzas plight is enough to publicly show the dangers of that path. Only positive I can draw from it.

Like Most, it's a crying shame, he was a boyhood hero.

I lost a lot of respect for Gazza after the whole Flute playing shit against Celtic, but that picture has shocked me to my very core. I just hope he gets the right people around him and he can turn this around and have a long life ahead of him!

You would like to think so, but people never seemed to learn from the likes of Best either.

I read that he's been in rehab 7 times now. Seems he is trying, and has tried, but, like George Best, it also seems it might be impossible to get away from alcohol's grip. Very sad. Had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and even had a kiss from him. Crazy, but a lovely man.

It really is tragic, so sad to see him like that.

Harry was on the radio this morning (unless it was a recording) saying that only last month he offered to pick him up every morning from Dorset and take him up to QPR just to get him involved and on the traning pitch as a distraction, apparently Gazza refused.

Such a shame but he really needs to help himself, so many people have tried so hard for so long.
