I think Pock was screwed by the style or way he wants his team to play and how long new players take to buy into it and get into it.

He had to superb talented new signings in GLC and Tanguy but because of the way he wanted to play, it took them quite a while to really get into it.

His style of play works better when he has young players who he can mould rather then experienced pros like Tanguy and GLC and even Sissoko and Lamela who he had to break their habits and rebuild them

His rebuild would have required us 2-3 years out of contention while he build up a new batch of players to play his way . I think Levy could not afford it with the new stadium so went for Jose
Well... actually he played them pretty much from the start, but then they got injured early on, and then Poch got sacked.

Not sure TN can be described as an experienced pro. Hadn't he only had a year or two playing regularly in the French top division?

I agree with your point about the type of player Poch needed though, and how long it would take to convert those not in that mould - but with regular and appropriate investment this rebuild could probably have been achieved concurrently - ie gradually bedding in new players whilst the team was still performing well - before sanctioning sales of previously high performing first team players (ie Dembele and Eriksen).

Trippier could maybe be seen as an example when where this approach did work - he was ready to step in when Walker was sold - and did well initially (I think!)

He's taking part in that Bielsa documentary on Sky Sports on now.

Poch worships Bielsa (for obvious reasons ) but looking at Bielsa’s record it isn’t all that impressive . Ok he has great ideas and is a genius in his own right but I see a lot of teams managed and a fair few “runners up” medals similar to poch

I honestly think poch going had and will be the correct decision . Seeing the gooners in another cup final makes me think how poor poch managed the cup semi finals aswell as all of the other cups competitions and both finals we played in. He was just clueless in each one ,

Jose has a game strategy for every opponent , poch shat himself when we had a chance to go two points off the top of the league , he’s another Brendan Rogers

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Funnily enough Sacramento briefly worked with Bielsa too but his philosophy is much more in line with Jose than Bielsa.

Pochettino had a strategy in the actual sense of the word. That is, how to be good, and maybe the best, over time. But little tactics, that is how to be the best in one singular match.

I agree to a degree but we shouldn’t forget the great work Poch did here getting us consecutive top fours which we had never previously done and should of under redknapp for example.

It’s the reason why I want to see him manage another team next season (preferably abroad) as I want to see if those occasions with us were him getting it wrong or whether it was just down to us being us.

Bingo. Close thread, stick in General Football and re-open when he accepts that job.

I refuse to believe 'us being us' could possibly be anything to do with it. You only have to visit any thread really but particularly the match threads to realise there's a staggering depth of maturity and football knowledge on offer :cautious:

Yeah, should prob put this in General Football under "Poch watch" or something. I'll always follow his career with interest.

Playing son at left winger back is all on poch nothing to do with spurs.

I'd put money on Poch to Juve now. Sarri may still win the title but I doubt he'll be staying on after this season
