Having taken sole charge in two of our most important matches of the season and fronting press conferences I think our No 2 deserves a thread of his own.

I think he's done a fantastic job in difficult circumstances. It's one thing taking charge of a match when the manager is suspended but has worked all week with the team, but another entirely when Conte has been completely absent from the training ground and stadium. He has himself lost a friend in Ventrone, and will have been supporting Conte with the recent loss of his close friends too.

Stellini is clearly well respected by the players too. He's good in front of the media as well, something not often expected of coaching staff. Hopefully he'll raise a glass of red tonight at a job really well done.

As Da Kidz say - put some respect on his name.

Seems a really nice guy too. The players seem to have a lot of time for him. He’s had a hard time this year too as well as Conte.

The way Dier pushed up and gave the midfield a bit of extra presence was immense. Just wouldn’t happen under Conte. Was that Dier taking advantage or Stellini being tactically astute?

I expect it was a lesson learned from our game a couple of weeks back. Why do you think Conte wouldn't have had anything to do with it?

Someone move this to “next manager thread“.

Nice to see a (rare) positive thread on SC for a change. Long may it continue.

To reverse of what Dier used to to back in the early Poch years when he’d drop into the back line to allow Rose and Walker to bomb on.

This is why PEH had such a good game. He could trust Dier to be on the front foot so he could be pressing high. Basically quite similar to the Poch dier in Dm.

Dier has literally done that on quite a few occasions under Conte.

Stellini is an excellent coach and assistant manager, but any suggestions that this performance was on him is silly.

Conte would have chosen the team on both occasions.

I think it was mentioned that Stellini chose the team, although he’s obviously completely in sync with Conte so it was never going to be significantly different.

I like this guy. He talks sense and comes across really well in interviews. Also seems like he gets on with the players really well too.

But my god does he look like a Lord of the Rings character.

Checked his Wikipedia page and apparently he wasn't part of the Antonio's coaching staff at Chelsea. Fully COYS.

Led us to our best league win of the season, needs a song. Thinking of reviving the Nicola Berti one...

His name is Chrissie Stellini
He loves a linguine
He comes from a town near Milan, Cugionno!
When he walks down the street, all the people he meets say, "hey, gorgeous*, what's your name?"

*felt mean changing the gorgeous word, could be ironic??

Has he fucked his mate over ?
By far the best performance of the season when Conte not around for the week.
Defence significantly better, players playing without fear.
Yes City selection helped us out (as it often does) but does this show possibly a cause of the problem we have had this season ?
For just about the first time this season enjoyed the game, atmosphere was decent, players showed they cared, played with intensity, few mistakes, and it was with Conte hundreds of miles away and not involved in the build up.
