You cannot criticise Mr Levy on this board like that, the masses will revolt, the man can do no wrong

Its not a question of DL can do no wrong I don't agree with some of his decisions and feel that on a couple of occasions he could have pushed the boat out a bit more for the extra special player or take a bigger chance on an up and coming star but still can see his point, We have improved bit by bit over the last few seasons to the healthy position we are in both financially and squad wise and I am happier here rather than in a position as other clubs find themselves in.

Some people are never satisfied we may have missed out on CL football and a few players we all would have liked to have signed and seen in our Lilywhite shirt but at the end of the day we have a "Tremendous" football club on a ultra stable financial footing with a state of the art new training ground that all European teams are envious of and would give their right arm to have and planning and good funding toward a state of the art new stadium.
Some people are never satisfied and personally I would rather be where we are at the present time building gradually rather than having signed players for unrealised extortionate transfer fees and wages to match and end up in a "Leeds" type position with dept up to the eyeballs and in a ever increasing downward spiral to oblivion.

I'm not and didn't say I wanted him to blow all our funds and run us into the ground.

I said he wastes everyone's time putting derogatory bids in for players he has no intention of signing.

Basically he's a liar and a prat who is rapidly burning bridges with every opposing chairman in world football.
If he never had the intention of going all the way with the likes of Benteke, Leandro, Moutinho etc etc etc etc etc (lots of etc's) then don't bloody bother in the first place.
If we can't afford these players that's absolutely fine. Just look a bit further down the price list!

My personal belief is he does it to excite us into paying for memberships and sell season tickets etc.

1. #Lambert stated to Christian #Benteke he didn't want to see him go. Spurs never came close to Villa's asking price, so B changed minds

Kristof Terreur@HLNinEngeland 31m
2. #Benteke yesterday walk in, still with a transfer in his head, but then they offered him, for the first time, a contract offer on paper.

Kristof Terreur@HLNinEngeland 27m
3. Then they called #Benteke's agent, also in Birmingham, and sat down for 2 hours. All those discussions lead to an agreement. #avfc

Also mentioned that Benteke was convinced he could join Spurs, hence transfer request.

So basically Levy thought he had Villa over a barrel on the price because Benteke handed in a transfer request.

We miss out on David Villa over haggling, now we miss out on Benteke over haggling, just a typical Tottenham transfer window really

Can someone direct me to a quote from either of the clubs, managers, staff, agents or players linking Benteke with us. The only things I can find are quoteless articles in the paper. Thanks.:cautious:

He gets plenty of criticism on here, makes me laugh when people try and act like there are swathes of Levy-protectors that emerge en masse whenever his name is besmirched. The going thing to do is to make a fucking dumb criticism of him and then say 'ooh but you can't criticise him 'cause all of his Internet bodyguards will drown you in their tears' - which is an obvious, and childish, way of trying to ensure that nobody takes issue with your mostly stupid posts for fear of being labeled a 'Levyite'.
Just because you made that fucking stupid thread about whether he is holding us back - people don't take issue with criticism of Levy, they take issue with stupid fucks on Internet forums thinking they know how to run a football club better than he does. I'm all for criticising the guy, I'm sure he's fucked up plenty, but unlike some fuckwits, I can see that he's done a lot more good for the club than bad.

I agree.

I am not fussed about not getting Benteke, more important things to worry about in life is keeping that in perspective.

We have AVB at the helm and Baldini, whom will start doing his work and will see the benefits of his appoint in the years to come, in addition to what you have said.

I would rather see Spurs consistently pushing for a CL place and that is what we can do, with ManU, Chelsea, ManC, Liverpool and Arsenal all in the same bracket... just to be in this bracket with a club that is sustainably run is the sign of an excellent job at the helm.

We didn't get Benteke, meh.

We really should have bitten the bullet and went for Benteke, even if we had to have the 25% sell on and £20m plus adds ons. Yes it is overpriced and a risk but look at the other options:-

Negredo - just as expensive, much older, and now getting paid top wedge at City. More expensive than CB and overpriced

Soldado - definitely a better player but probably more expensive, £100k+ wages and probably won't be gagging to come here.

Jackson Martinez - Also overvalued for me and he plays for Porto, we know how spurs-Porto transfers play out...

Whereas Benteke was willing to come to us, on relatively low wages, was younger, PL proven and had all the attributes and potential to be a huge player for us. Even if he flopped we would probably get a decent bit back on the next sale like Darren Bent.

I genuinely thought we would get him in as he seemed the only logical option of our targets. Seriously concerned now...

DL will be rubbing his head wondering what to do, in your eyes he can't win, if he tries to haggle and get good players for a price we can afford and fails then he is wasting everyone's time but if he buys cheaper players you will slate him for buying players that aren't good enough for Spurs.

Basically we don't know the whole story of exactly what goes on behind closed doors >90% of what the press write is rubbish with no foundation (we know that cause most of it doesn't occur) and even our ITK get a lot wrong so maybe we shouldn't judge his results too harshly. I still say in the 12 years he has been at Spurs he has made a few disastrous decisions but has overall done a superb job.

His agent used our indecisiveness to get him a better deal at his current club, simple as that

His agent used the whole saga to gain income from his percentage of CB wages, the agent was in a win - win situation if he signed for us he made good money and has still gained from the improved contract he didn't care which :)

Yeah we should have just pay whatever the asking price is for any player we're after. Levy can't win, we'd look stupid if we signed Benteke for £30mill and he gets lambasted every time we chase a player and don't get them. Maybe we should just stop trying to sign players to improve our squad.

I understand the panic and the need for another striker, but I'm not as concerned at missing out on Benteke as I was with Villa.

I still believe that in Adebayor we have an excellent striker.

That's optimistic, but the problem I have is that Ade can have as many off days as on. Last season he had far more off. Against West Ham away he was utterly useless, no first touch, running around like a headless chicken, certainly never in a goalscoring position. In those scenarios, we just don't have a viable alternative. JD is fine but better suited as an impact sub and even then he doesn't really manage to get into a game unless he's been playing from the start.

I wasn't keen on Benteke at first but now am absolutely gutted we've missed out on him - he would have been a wonderful 433 top man to play off.

I'm a little bit less than a tanned toned adonis. I've lost my hair and I'm a bit pastey at times.
So when I was single man out on the prowl I would put potential ladies into brackets. Above my league. Below my league. In my league.

I'd waste a little time trying the above my league ladies but usually they wanted a better looking kind of man. Or one with money. Or one with both.

So naturally I dropped down into the ones in my league. I had some decent success here. They were nice looking but not top notch.
Occasionally though I'd be out and no one in my league would be available. I'm in desperate need of a fix. I've got no chance what so ever of pulling the ladies from the league above me. So basically I pull one from the league below me.

Cause I'd rather do that that go home and have a wank.

Daniel Levy. If you're reading this. I am you. And the ladies are potential strikers you need to sign.
Stop fucking around with the ones in the league above you. While there is still time try finding someone in your league. Because if you don't there's only the ones beneath you left..
Or most likely you'll go home and enjoy your wank seeing as you're a right fisted wanker.
