...you mean "ridiculously accurate," as Davies was continuously exposed all day on our left...

COYS
Think you are being a bit harsh on Davies. Chelsea's tactics put a lot of pressure on Davies and Trippier because they effectively played with 3 up top, with Hazard and Willian drifting in - that causes our FBs to play narrow, helping to cover both of Chelsea's wide men, and that opened up the outside for Chelsea's wing backs. That overload on either side meant our AMs Eriksen and Lamela and later Son really had rsponsibility to cover the wing backs, and if they got caught up field, our FBs looked out of sorts trying to cover both the wide forwards and the wing backs.

I had to look it up before I posted it and was going to use "albatross". I wasn't entirely sure I had used it correctly, but I as hoping people would pass over it! ;)
Intended? If so, well done. If not, still well done.

Actually, having looked it up, I am not sure I am entirely off the mark. See Liew's article below.
I'm pretty sure you are, at least in the ways it reads. Think about a shibboleth as me saying "I love the Spurs" instead of "I love Spurs". One says I am a supporter of some time and understanding and the other says I am a newcomer/JCL. A shibboleth is a sign that someone is part of a group. Ironically, correcting grammar/etc outside of the proper grammar would say the opposite.:ROFLMAO: Also, interestingly, knowing there is an unmarked 'grammar thread' would also mark me as part of the group. This could go on.

Albatross, black cloud, hoodoo, etc would have all been more apt in this instance.

He actually had a very good game, lots of great tackles, good sensible progressive passing, and really helped us control the midfield.

Some people will never rate Dier, because some people will never 'get' Dier as a midfielder. Because he is a bread and butter player, not someone with anything that really sticks out. But he glides through the pitch well, blocks passing angles, covers CBs when they get moved out of position, and makes himself available for simple passes to relieve pressure on the defense. These are mostly things that don't get recognized by fans but are really important aspects of football.

Ball winners has to be one of the most overhyped positions, yes its great to see Palacios of Sandro win crunching tackles, but if there positioning isn't up to scratch the team suffers. You end up conceding more. Players like Dier defend mostly by positioning, you don't see it but it really helps the team. Carrick was really underrated defensively and you can learn a lot about the role reading him.

Yes and let us not forget that jose moanyhole would chop off his left nut to get Dier in his team.

He May be an asshole but he knows what a disciplined consistent versatile player can do for a squad.

Assuming we get to the final and play Chelsea we need to sort out what to do about Alonso, he had some good chances yesterday and had an off day plus slightly offside on his goal, considering he scored two against us at wembley we need to have a plan to keep him quiet, can't give him space on back post crosses.

How good were those first 2 goals.
But Deli Allis first was a thing of beauty.
The run, the pass, the touch, the finish.
It doesn’t get much better than that goal.
Absolutely world class goal.

I thought we played well, but we were gifted a few moments where Chelsea were definitely on the front foot and missed some very good chances. Alonso was the primary source of these.

I do think having a 100% Kane changes the entire dynamic though. It seems we've gone through this before where Son is in great form, he has to step in for Kane, and we all remember why he can not lead the line.

The 2nd Alli goal I was in stitches, Lamela and Eriksen berating Son for not passing the ball to Lamela when the ball went in as if we didn't score :D

I loved they did that, particularly Eriksen as you can understand Lamela's immediate frustration but Eriksen recognised the wider significance even though we had just scored.

Could you imagine we ended up losing that 3-2, I'm not sure Son would of lived that down. It was remarkably greedy and immature not to just poke it to lamela, it was the complete percentage play.

Love Son but I hope they all give him a right rollicking for that.

Great players invariably make the right decisions. Aguero, for example, would of squared that.

I think we'll lose this today and those ****s will use it as momentum to pass us for 4th by the end of the season. Obviously I don't want that to happen even one little bit, but I just have a bad feeling that that's how it's going to play out.

Please, Spurs, sock it to me today and make me look like the daftest, most unduly pessimistic tit ever: I'll thank you for it!
Grateful? ;)
