The outcome is very sad for De Bruyne and Man. City, but I don't think Rudiger took too much risk there, not enough for a red. It's a cynical block and every now and then it will injure the opponent, unlucky.

Some cynical challenges deserve a red card though due to the outcome, that is what I'm saying.

We've seen it before when players have their leg broken after an accidental challenge and the player who did the challenge was sent off and it wouldn't have been a red had the player not been injured.

That's completely wrong though when that happens. Just like Son's tackle on Gomes was never a red card - terrible outcome for Gomes though.

Those challenges have always been a red card though, the same thing happened in our match against Brentford, it's one of those unwritten rules in football that if you hurt a player like that even if its not intentional you should be sent off, for example Son against Gomes where he obviously didn't mean it but was always gonna be sent off.

The Brentford red card was the correct decision for me, it would be totally unjust if a player stays on the pitch whilst the other player may have had their career ruined plus for the player's own safety because other players might want to seek retribution for their team mate, same for Son, same for Rudiger.

It depends on the referee and his character, but according to the rules Son deserved a yellow for that challenge on Gomes, not a red. Just like I think Lahoz got it spot on by giving Rudiger a yellow for that block with unlucky consequences for De Bruyne, all in the game.

Yeah I know by the rules it's a yellow but refs normally use their own interpretation in those circumstances and draw for the red.

Other than that the ref I thought was brilliant.

FFS what is it with English football fans? Especially Chelsea. I would arrest every single one of them, give them 4 weeks in jail. Scum!

Fernandinho has been getting away with these challenges for years, without even being booked.

Rudiger knew what he was doing, just like when he milked getting Sonny sent off. He's no angel, but I think City finally got a taste of their own medicine
