Tottenham want to sign another ‘powerful’ 21-year-old Serie A defender - Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori

Quatidiano Sportivo and Tutto Bologna Web claim today that Ange Postecoglou’s side are interested in signing Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

The 21-year-old Italian is naturally a centre-back, but he is capable of playing at left-back and left-wing too. He has been viewed as a huge talent for a few years now, and he could get himself a big move next.

Looked at this lad's highlights and you know who he reminds me of, Bastoni. Looks technically excellent and equally comfortable at left back and centre back, if a tad less athletic than our other defenders. But also not afraid of a tackle.

But I've noticed recently when we get random but somewhat concrete local links to a player from another club, we actually end up signing someone else from that club.

It was originally Brennan Johnson, then Djed Spence at Forest. Pedro Goncalves then Porro at Sporting. Vlahovic at Juve then Deki/Lolo. Albert at Genoa then Dragusin.

So my question is who are we REALLY interested in from Bologna?? Lol

Yeah I’d imagine we have concerns, plus could Calafiora be considered the greater talent?

We have had quite a lot of joy from Italian market recently.

I think a left footed centre back who can also play left back would be a great addition to the squad and finish off our defence for time being (VDV can also play left back so lots of flexibility).

***Edit: Coming back to this, ITK recently said Ange & recruitment have an eye on the Dutch forward in the summer. Everyone including myself thought it was a reference to Gimenez from Feyenoord (forward in Dutch league) since we have been interested for ages.

BUT I did not realize that Zirkzee is Dutch (for some reason I thought he was American when other clubs were being linked). So now I think this may be the Dutch forward itk were referring to.
