Can we take a moment to laugh heartily at Everton?

A lot of talk about setting a precedent, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who won't be too surprised when City & Chelsea only get a financial penalty for far worse.

Actually feel a bit sorry for them. Sure they've spent their money terribly but its fine for City and Chelsea to completely ignore all the rules and get off scot free, not ignoring the Newcastle issue!
100% agree with this.

Last season I actually started watching Everton's games in the hope I would have seen them relegated. I really hope they go down and keep going down and get done by Portsmouth in a 0-6 beating at their own ground!

That's some dream! lol

The more I think about this - this is really just a slap on the wrist for Everton, and not a serious punishment.

Even with the 10-point deduction - they are not a threat to be relegated. They also were not a threat to grab a European slot in table.

So, at the end of the day - the only punishment will be lost revenue from where they finish in the table. With each spot being worth ~£1.5M. They were 14th, and I could see them getting ahead of Bournemouth - so this will only cost them 3-5 place in the final table - or £4.5-7M total lost revenue.

I'd say, it was worth it to Everton to overspend to make sure they stayed up, and pay a small fine later.

"The club will also monitor with great interest the decisions made in any other cases concerning the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

I’m glad Everton added this to their reply statement to add a little pressure to not let off City and Chelsea Scot free.

Premier League clubs are permitted to lose £105m over a three-year period and Everton's losses during that period amounted to £124.5m.
Ten point deduction for overspending by £20m? Seems excessive so I’m quite excited to see what ManC and Chelsea get hit with or are the PL going to bottle it? Unfortunately my money is on the latter…

I don’t think there fans will think there is no threat to them being relegated. I wouldn’t put my house on it that’s for sure. Luton and that are shit but I expect Everton to be neck deep in the shit all season and could go either way.

That 1150 point deduction City will eventually get is going to be brutal
They deserve to be demoted like Rangers were in Scotland.
Sadly it just ain't going to happen as they'll pay their way out of it (if anything ever happens)

Completely agree mate.

If they get a 10pt deduction then Chelsea & City need relagating.

If Everton are smart - they will appeal this - at the last possible moment.

Then, while this is being appealed, they can see how the season plays out - if it looks like they are secure from relegation with the 10-point deduction, then they withdraw the appeal and take the penalty. If they look like they are in danger of relegation - you hope to reduce the penalty, or push it off for next season.

The target for losses is £0.

Anything over £15m needs to be explained to the PL with details of how the club intends to eliminate future losses.

The £105m threshold is simply the trigger point at which clubs are charged for the breach.

The guidelines given to the commission by the Premier League were that any breach of the £105m should have a starting point of a 6-point deduction, plus an additional point for every £5million by which the PSR threshold was exceeded.

Further details are in the commissions findings here: https://resources.premierleague.com...gue-v-Everton-FC-Decision-for-Publication.pdf

Would have thought there would be some sort of time limit on appeals .

This does set a precedent, this is based off 3 years, so in a year and a half Chelsea should get absolutely hammered.

That's before you get into what Abramovic was doing.

City have been taking the piss for years, and if they every get round to sorting that out it should end in expulsion from the league (leagues).

Not holding my breath though, they should add points for teams who have done well with FFP as well, we'd win the league!

Does seem like there is one rule for the lower clubs and no rules for the top teams.
